I can't recommend the Mount View Inn. There was a lack of cleanliness (the bed and floor had a lot of hair, the sink had a lack of floor cleaning). Towels and blankets were not offered until much later, and so was the WiFi. There were lots of ants in the room and bed. Pillows smoked boldly. The owner tried to keep in touch, but that didn't balance the clumsy impression.

The surprisingly spacious building features 14 rooms of different sizes. All have a nice flair and a functional and classic layout with wooden furniture and clean, white sheets. The beds and the rooms are comfortable and equipped with fan, mosquito nets and some come with A/C. The hotel is located at a main street, so try to avoid the front facing rooms, the other ones are really quiet. From the upper floors you have a nice view over the hill sides of Kandy. Mountain View Inn is located 550m west of the train station and is easily reachable by foot. The owner is very friendly and helpful. The WiFi works well throughout the entire hotel. 

Affordable, friendly, classic hotel

For the price you can't expect too much, but is located near the train station, about 20 min to city centre and has a cheap restaurant to buy local food at the side. The owner was super nice and helpful, he provided us some towels and toilet paper and gave us good tips about where to go. The room was small and basic but clean, the bathroom had an amazing hot shower that we loved, it worked perfectly. Overall is great for the price.

Great budget accomodation

The bathroom is horrible, nothing works and no hot water, the furniture is in poor condition and the bedding is very uncomfortable, there's nothing usable in the kitchen and there's no ceiling.

It's very convenient.

Close to railway station. Just within walking distance. Also near tu bus station where to catch bus to sigiriya or other location. There are also local restaurant infront of this GH where easy to find local food if you get hungry at night

Budget homestay but worth to stay

not the greatest place to stay ... but handy to town and main attractions, and cheap eateries.
the host was very friendly and helpful and welcoming.
the room let the place down.
all the rooms were dark and dingy and quite dirty, a lot of dust and cobwebs.
the bathroom was filthy and in need of repair, and often we had no water, including to flush toilet.
uncomfortable beds, (my base was broken) ..
such a pity, because location good, and hosts great.

kind friendly hosts

This is a fairly basic small hotel.  The host is very friendly and helpful.  The location is good, being walking distance from the train station and the centre of town.  You can even walk down to the Sacred Tooth Temple.

Fairly basic good location

Really likes staying in this hotel.
It’s nothing amazing or 5 star, room is basic, double bed, chairs, mirror, fan and bathroom but excellent value for what we paid! Booked for one night but ended up staying for 4 and the owner was more than helpful with accommodating us. 
If you need toilet roll, just ask and they are more than willing to give you some and the WiFi worked well in both of the rooms (we moved after the second night)
Hotel not too far from most things, it’s a nice walk to the city centre or you can grab a tuk tuk as there is plenty of them around! 
Overall a really nice stay and would stay here again!

Or with Tuk Tuk for 100 Rs, no more, it's only 700 m!!! In Kandy you don't need a Nobel hotel, as you're on the road all day anyway. We had a double room for 10.50 € and were happy around. For this price you can't expect a suite, but rooms and bathrooms were clean and the bedding was freshly cleaned. Eventually you can take the rooms out to the back because the main street is bustling. We had earrings. The owner, Maurice, is unbeatable friendly and straightforward, without a trace of urgency.

Clean, safe and friendly accommodation

I had more furniture than others in the same category, but my room was older, the cleanliness was slightly lower than average. Considering that most of Kandy's economic facilities are far from the center, its location is excellent: walking to the train station in about 15 minutes, a little more for the bus station and a little more for the center. It is on a very busy road but not directly overlooked and I had no noise problems. For smokers they have a small and messy terrace where it is located. Some rooms from a small terrace are allowed. My experience was positive and I would go back there.
