We had one of the best times of our stay in Sri Lanka in this guesthouse located just steps from the beach but away from the noisy evenings of Hikkaduwa. Their breakfast taken on their green terrace is amazing. We also rented bikes on site to visit the surroundings which is very pleasant. I can only recommend this guesthouse run by two lovely Frenchmen who will be happy to help you with your stay!!

Best guesthouse on our trip

One of the best guesthouses of our trip. Very warm welcome from our French hosts Jaja and Françoise. The room is spacious, office, storage...and very pleasant with its colorful decorations and accompanied by a small functional water room. Air conditioning and wifi available. The place is very friendly with a nice outdoor garden, lounge and dining area. One would almost want to lay down and not move, like the little star turtle that walks around. Despite the road, the place is quiet and the beach is 50m away from the road.

The Dream of Hikka Sri Lanka

Our first step to Sri Lanka. We arrived in the middle of the night and Neil, the night watchman, was waiting for us to show us our room and set us up. He even showed us the way to go dip our feet in the hot water and find something to snack on, perfect. The rooms are spacious and very nice, the nice bedding is excellent. The bathroom is huge and very functional, looking perfect. Breakfast is cool and friendly. Jaja even makes you homemade cakes...if you're kind!! The guest in itself is a real little paradise in the tumultuous dinaduwa of Hikkaduwa.

Idyllic guest house away from the bustle of Hikkaduwa

The hotel was long chosen on the coast. We stayed at a cheap guest house and never regretted it. Very welcoming hostesses, cozy clean rooms. Breakfast from 8-30 to 1000. For breakfast you can ask for an omelette, egg, toast or yogurt, and instead of fruit salad you can ask for juice for those who love variety. Everything is very tasty. A hot afternoon can be spent in a garden, small but with a shade and cool, equipped with hammocks and comfortable chairs.

French oasis in Sri Lanka

This place isn’t great, but ain’t bad either.. 

The rooms are clean, but can use some paint. It’s just a simple room, with a very bad AC system. If your on a budget it’s fine for a short stay. 

The biggest upset about the place is the way they keep their administration, all the guest information is right there on the counter for anyone to take. Mostly there is no one around during day time if you have any questions, the gate is always open and there is no security around. The very friendly night time worker is there during the night, he is more of a help then the French owner. I can’t help think that they should really pay the staff some more money, it’s a horribly low salary they receive in comparison to the amount of money they receive from the guests per night. They can pay the entire staff in 1 night of stay, while not even being full.  

The breakfast is good, you can chose and egg breakfast or a yoghurt one, both with fruits. 

Nothing special, money maker for French owners 

We stayed here for 4 days and we loved it.  Jaja & her team always gave us good advices what to do & where to eat delicious dinner. It was also cool that they have turtles at their place (: The accommodation is really beautiful & clean. It‘s nearby the street, but the rooms are quiet - no worries! i can really recommend Le Reve d‘Hikka, friendly, helpful & beautiful residence. Nice place to stay when you‘re in Hikkaduwa/Narigama.

Don’t waste your time or money at the big resorts, Le’Reve is everything you could want in a beachside retreat .. 

Rooms are large (take the superior, it’s worth it) with comfortable beds, air conditioning and good quality bathroom. 

Breakfast is great & includes in the VERY reasonable rate. 

Best in HIKKADUWA 

I would rate this Home Stay as no.1 .
With amenities,good breakfast,very friendly owners and very cooperative staff.
Excellent Dining area .very well designed dining area .one can sense a French taste as the owner/management is French.


Excellent Home Stay at Hikkaduwa

A big disappointment about this hotel. I explain to myself: we booked for 3 people with breakfast included. Until then everything is fine, a very proper and clean room. However big surprise the next morning or my friend who came home in the evening could not go back to the room because the gate and the front door were closed. Also we are told that breakfast is not included and it will be in addition without any explanation. The manager was not the least concerned and just submitted the idea that my friend had not understood well. It's a shame for this establishment to have a manager with so little professionalism.

Catching a tourist

We've been to several other accommodations, and we've picked this place because the advertised rate includes breakfast in a lovely shaded backyard and a room that looks like a doughnut. However, the same evening, as I'm rallying the hotel after a night out with friends, I find myself having to climb up the locked door... then locked in front of the locked door in the lobby. I have no choice but to head back down the road and spend a new night out for the night elsewhere than spending the night out under water bubbles.
