Trianon House

Basically we are just echoing the existing reviews but here goes: From the moment we arrived we were made to feel incredibly welcome. Tim the House Manger was there to greet us and show us round. There were cold flannels and iced water whilst we had an informative chat with Tim about the local area, best places to shop for the essentials and restaurants that he recommended. The house is beautiful and you could spend hours just looking at all the paintings, books, ornaments and furniture within. We were looked after by the amazing Charminda who speaks great English and keeps the house spotlessly clean. His wife cooked us a fantastic Sri Lankan meal one evening which fed us for another lunch and dinner after that. The grounds are immaculately kept by Senna the Gardner (and Nightwatchman) and pool is one of the nicest we have ever had and the perfect temperature. The pictures really don't do it justice!! We loved sitting up in the gazebo in the evenings with a glass of wine whilst watching the fireflies. If you need to go anywhere during your stay you just call Aslam and he is there to take you. He is great to have around when you go to get the fresh fish from the market as the translator and waits whilst you are in the supermarket. Also, there is a benefit from going on an alcohol run (separate shops over there) with a local as you get better prices. Extremely reasonably priced, he takes away the need to pick up random tuk tuks if you have gone out for the evening as he will come back and pick you up at a specified time and place. A big thank you to all the Trianon team for making our stay so memorable and the birthday gift I received on our last day there.
