Silent Nest

Ella

Staying at Silent Oasis was one of the real highlights of our trip to Sri Lanka. The room is wonderful, clean, comfortable and sat in the middle of the forest high up in the hills of Ella. There was a mosquito net over the bed. Great wifi. Ensuite shower room. Note that there are a number of steps to reach the room and in the dark you will need a torch.
Outside the room there is a shared balcony area with chairs and table for breakfast. And boy oh boy is the breakfast good - locally sourced and home-made too. And of course you get to eat it in the forest watching all the wonderful wildlife and listening to the exotic bird calls.
On our first evening our host arranged for us to eat the most amazing home-cooked rice and curry. Other nights we took a tuktuk ride into Ella to dine at one of the many bars / restaurants in town.
Amila and his wonderful family are a delight. You will not meet friendlier, kinder, helpful people. He went above and beyond to help us organise and arrange trips and travel & just make our trip as wonderful as it could be. I send big thanks for a great stay. We long to return. Needless to say I thoroughly recommend Silent Oasis :)

Magical stay in Ella

Very nice, beautiful, quiet, and peaceful place. A lot of green trees and plants.
Very delicious breakfasts icluded. Possibility of ordering lunch or dinner. 
The owner very helpful. The whole family was nice and smiling.

Great time in Silent Oasis

Place is hidden in the jungle, it is calm and quite Big Room with 2 King size  bed was very comfortable. The room was sunny in the Morning and had magnificent view. Breakfast was the Best i Sri Lanka. Very taste omlet and few local  home made pancakes with sweet coconut or spicy Red lentils. It is managed by very nice family you can see tea Garden and taste organic coffee which   originally grew  in this place. The owner was very helpful with organizing the van for us so we could effectivelly  See Elle region till late evening. Also have us Good advise re the trip to Tangalle for 8 People So we arrived In Tangalle after 3.5 hr and still have most of the Day to spend on the Beach  Thank you😍

2days in Elle with family

Very nice and friendly familly. Great view from the terrace- we saw a lot of animals jumping on the trees. We got  fair price for a transport. When you are traveling by train from Kandy you can get out from train one station before Ella and there is a 10 minutes walk to Silent Oasis. Highly recomended when you love nature.  Best breakfast which we ever get in Sri Lanka. 

Great place to visit 

We had a wonderful, relaxing stay at Amila's. The place is a pleasant, 25-30 minute walk along the train tracks (itself a fun adventure, and part of the normal walk to Ella rock) or a 400-500 rupee Tuk Tuk ride from Ella town. His home is located on a quiet hillside tucked in his garden full of coffee, banana, and papaya trees. The rooms have covered decks that are perfect for taking breakfast or enjoying a beer in the evening. The breakfast provided is copious and delicious. We loved watching the birds and the squirrels in the mornings.

The rooms themselves are clean and comfortable. His wife can provide a tasty, home-cooked, Sri Lankan meal, without so much chili if desired---for 800 rupees per person. 

Amila's family is lovely and will do everything they can to ensure you have a pleasant stay. We had excellent communication before our stay, and he picked us up from the bus in a nearby town, and helped us to the train station as we left. Highly recommended!

Beautiful location, lovely hosts

A huge thank you to Amila for her kindness, hospitality and all her precious advice. The place is a haven of peace in the middle of nature with the singing of the early morning birds! their little dej is just succulent to test without hesitation!!!
