Hotel Suwahasa

Hotel Suwahasa Dambulla Rates are reasonable, room facilities excellent and service good and very friendly staff. surrounding areas clean and restaurant rooms and bath rooms is excellent I am highly recommended this  place to stay

We stayed for 1 night in Hotel suwahasa with family of 3+2 in 2 rooms. 

Positives:
It is a clean place. Nice garden with lots of medicinal plants and trees. The rooms are large and well furnished. The family running it was very helpful and breakfast was simple, yet good. Overall, Hotel Suwahasa is a nice hotel in a quiet neighborhood, and is close to the Dambulla Golden Temple.

Negatives:

There is not much to do close by, with very few commercial establishments.

Excellent Budget Hotel in Dambulla

I booked online through Booking.com because I need to stay in Dambulla for one night to visit Sigiriya and Dambulla. Since the address given is Kandalama Road I thought it was along a busy road so I did not hesitate to book a room. I was dropped off by the bus from Kandy at the junction of the national road and Kandalama Road. I had to take a tuktuk to bring me to the hotel and I was surprised to discover that it is located in the jungle. I arrived in the afternoon and was planning to take advantage of the daylight to visit some attractions but suddenly it rained so I had to postpone my tour for the next day. And since I cannot go anywhere, I decided to order some food for dinner which turned out to be good.

The room was OK, spacious, clean and tidy. Everything looks relatively new. Even the toilet and bathroom was bigger than most of the average hotel room where I stayed in other cities/towns. There was an electric and mosquito net. Unlike other hotels where I paid US $ 35 per night, there was no T.V. set inside the room. Fortunately, I brought a tablet and wi-fi was available in the room  so somehow I managed to keep myself busy.

It was raining very hard so I had no choice but to stay at the hotel Since I am a city folk I sleep without turning off the lights. In the middle of the night (around 2 a.m.) I woke up to see lots of insects flying around the lights. Also, it was time to visit the toilet but I was shocked to see lots of bugs and really huge black bugs walking on the toilet floor. This was a very unpleasant experience which spoiled my sleep. I could also hear the German Shepherd barking all night long.

At breakfast time I asked the wife of the owner to send someone to clean my room and get rid of the insects and bugs. 

When I returned to my room, I investigated and found out that the insects were able to get inside the room through the gap under the door. Likewise, the black bugs were able to access the toilet through the open spaces of the exhaust fan.

The breakfast served consists of coffee, bread, jam, and honey. There was also fried egg. The quality of the food is acceptable.

It was a weekend and I didn't realize that banks were closed so I had to pay my hotel and other bills in US dollars where I got a lousy exchange rate.

There are ongoing constructions at this property, so expect to see some progress in the facilties. The owners are both friendly, I even asked them to call the hotel in Katunayake to ask for directions and confirm my online booking.

I think the price is quite exhorbitant considering the limited facilities offered by this hotel. The location is a big turn off.

Hotel is Located in the Middle of nowhere!

The Rooms are ok and clean but indeed much too expensive, especially in comparison to all other accomodations in Sri Lanka we had. We had mould in the room and a battery of bugs because the mosquito blind was Borken. The breakfirst was Great.

Far Too expensive

Our on line booking was made through Booking.Com about 2 months in advance. But the manager  was not aware of our booking stating the reason CHANGE OF MANAGEMENT. There were no guests except us. Hotel is in secluded area. Rooms were dirty. It was difficult to look for other place. .
