Location and food was great - service was soooo slow that one would Think they had to catch the fish or kill the cow. 

It is located right on “baby point” and offers great and much needed shade before and after surfschool.

The tuna melt on sourdough was great but would have been Nice with french fries also

One of the worst places, food was cold, food take a lot of time and the waiter hector was just offering us drugs every time and once we say that we don’t want he got mad and was forgetting our food, this is the worst place, if you are there AVOID this at any cost, is just a tourist trap

TOURIST TRAP PLEAS AVOID

Waiters are super friendly and atmosphere is perfect. Lovely Beachfront cafe to watch surging from. BEST chicken noodles. Amazing fresh lime juice. Pot of tea is huge. Music is perfect. Service is rather slow BUT waiters are so friendly kind that who cares !

Lunch if you are not in a hurry. 

We stayed eight nights at Mambo's Hotel, and we felt good. Our family room (fan, no aircon, but not necessary) was quite large for four people, but clean but very Spartan. There is no hot water, but it is indispensable, it is always warm. The room was cleaned only once in the eight days - and this once only on request. But then it was made neat and tidy. The whole facility is maintained, constantly turned around and the sand. From the terrace and the restaurant (more expensive) you can go directly to the beach and the most important (beginner) tip of the bay. But there is often a very loose base, even on the beach, and even on the march.

Pleasant resort right on the surf beach for beginners

This hotel is located on the very shore of the ocean, a few small cozy cottages on a hilltop, among thick green palm trees and flowering tropical trees. Riding in their own hammock on the veranda of their house, guests feel like they are in the jungle: wild big butterflies flying around, monkeys and small boarders jumping 🌸.😁. The whole area of the hotel is perfectly clean! During the day, there is a dark pleasant soft music - lounge or bungalow.... There is fast Wi-Fi, beautiful cuisine and the most delicious cocktails of fruits at Mambo. The hotel staff is the only young guys, always ready to help you with any questions.

That's a good choice.

We have not stayed in the hotel, but chilled on the sunbeds. 
Nice place to hang around, very friendly staff. Nice place to have lunch, but sometimes longer waiting times. Relaxed atmosphere. 

If wanted, surfing lessons can be booked with them. 

We also visited Mambo’s in Hikkaduwa which is from the same owner. 

Nice spot to chill

Dirty, slow, unreliable staff. They didn't rent us the surfboard because we had to take a lesson first, so we booked a surf lesson at 6:30 the next morning, and when we arrived, the instructor didn't ask.

Worst place ever in Arugambay

The service was horrible. 40 minutes for one black coffee. The old waiter is so stupid. We were waiting 20 minutes to order and 20 minutes more for service in total 40 minutes to have a coffee. Everyday the service is the same.

Really bad service

We had to wait here more than 1 hour for some juices and a salad. I know it can be busy and we’re not impatient people, but if you’re just here for a quick lunch and want to enjoy your time at the beach, bring your own lunch or eat somewhere else. 

Looong waiting time and okay food

We had a very large menu, but only half of it was available. We waited about an hour for the meal, and the place was almost empty.
