It’s a great place to stay becauce the rooms are clean good bed and so close by the beach where u very good can enjoy your day. And the evening is beautifull u here the sea very relaxed.
Great swimming pool and a very friendly owner.
Kitchen also very good.

Great place.  The beach is right next to the hotel, the beach is clean and large, incredibly beautiful.  Resting with such a view is simply wonderful.  Breakfast is very tasty.  Usually it is an omelette, coffee with milk, bread with butter and jam.  Also for dessert, a fresh mango, coconut or watermelon smoothie.  The staff is very polite and nice.  They helped us with all our questions.  There is a great restaurant called Simple nearby for lunch or dinner.  It's delicious and inexpensive there.  Internet works well in the hotel.  The room has huge terraces.  A great option for your money.  However, I repeat, the beach is perfect.  A sensitive place for photos and relaxation.  I recommend the hotel because of the location and incredibly pleasant staff.  I advise you to try a massage and coconuts on the beach at the hotel.

Visited cool beach hotel in 2015, when still partially under construction. Best experience within the serene location. Good food with a beer. No rush by employees. Great beach and nice shady areas to relax. Many small crabs going around the beach at night. Extremely clean and spacious rooms. A good getaway place. Not for those seeking luxury but those looking for adventure...

This hotel has a perfect location where both people who can swim well and not really will feel comfortable and enjoy swimming.  There is an area on the beach where a small water section is surrounded by stones that break waves, allowing you to just lay down in the water and relax...

The place is perfect for relaxation and slowing down from your daily race before and after your vacation. 

The hotel rooms are big, air-conditioned and clean, with big ceiling fans that will shuffle cool air from the air conditioner nicely. Hint - do not bring food to your room, even leaving it inside the fridge won’t save you from ants that will find the way to enjoy that food or at least its crumbs. 

Breakfasts are simple - omelets, bread, butter, jam, pot of coffee / tee, bananas, pancakes with coconuts & honey. You can also buy yourself a meal for lunch and dinner and for that the place offers quite extensive choice of dishes. Hint: always ask (in all restaurants in Sri Lanka) do not add spicy to your meal, actually saying “zero spicy, please”. Please don’t get me wrong - it is not a complain, I do realize that adding species is a local way of making sure food will last longer in such hot and humid conditions, but for people outside Sri Lanka having so much species in the meals maybe not really what they want to experience-:)) 

I saw some people posted a picture of a lizard in a room, well it’s not s lizard but Gecko, which never grows bigger than 5-6 cm and actually very shy and helpful as it helps to get rid off some occasional insects in the room. We actually liked that fellow that loved in our room. We miss him / her already :-)

Our suggestion for a room, ask for a one on the third or fourth floor to enjoy the view on the Indian Ocean, which I guarantee you will be missing the day you’ll leave the country. 

The hotel owner offers a tuk-tuk with a driver that was extremely helpful and polite. He can gets you to Hikkaduwa place that is the nearest relatively big towns nearby (~4 km or 2 miles away) or to drive you a feee tour that the host offers. On that tour you’ll see a turtle farm, tea plant and Tsunami museum (such s devastating page of Sri Lanka history that it brings tears to my eyes as I’m typing this review, make sure you visit this place).

Positives:
- Beautiful View
- lovely clean beach
- had a mini fridge in room 

Negatives: 
- unfriendly staff: Pressured to leave early by staff members I.e at 8:00am in the morning!! We came down for breakfast for them to pressure us into leaving when breakfast was running late, we never ended up having breakfast!
- Poor first room: the first room we were put in had no AC working so we were moved 
- Toilet of our 2nd room: was broken so everytime you sat in jt you almost died
- Hot Water doesn’t work
- plug didn’t work: used plug once and then it was stuck from that moment on
- has no feel like a proper hotel - the foyer is so dark and creepy, it’s not comfortable.
- At 10:00 the breakfast wasn’t ready and the milk given to us for our tea had gone sour with bits in.
- unfortunately would not recommend this hotel as it is sooooooo overpriced for what you actually get, it’s appalling!

Over Priced So Not Worth It!

During our recent stay at the Cool Beach Hotel, we encountered several issues that made the experience quite disappointing. Had the worst experience, bad hospitality, buffets did not with much variety and no taste, and watery curry items. They haven’t provided dessert items for any main meals. We booked this hotel on a full board basis, but they provided meals that were just like a funeral. The room’s air conditioning didn’t work properly.
We had to pay for lots of hidden charges that we had not communicated before check-in. Bad experience ever. The only plus thing was the nearby sea view. Can’t recommend it to anyone. Additionally, the staff seemed unresponsive to our complaints, which made the overall stay quite frustrating.

What a terrible place! The food was really bad, and they didn’t even offer dessert during lunch, even though we were on a full board basis. The water taps weren’t working in the dining area, and the staff was so rude and sneaky. Even though the location and sea view were amazing, their awful service just made our stay really unpleasant.

Hi all, recently I went to cool beach hotel and stayed a night there....the experience was terrible because of the following reasons...AC in the room was not working so heat was unbearable...and the food was terrible no taste at all...and no water in the cafeteria. And extra money was charged in a very unethical way even without informing before...

Terrible experience at cool beach hotel

We had planned on staying for two nights but left a few hours after arriving. Pool very dirty, dangerous cables everywhere, construction noise. Overall it is still a construction site! No  reception, difficult to find staff, smelly fish covered in flies out on the counter without any cooling for fat too long. Beach smaller than it seems, view onto a busy road. Wouldn’t recommend staying. This was the worst place during our stay and we visited lots of other hotels during our holiday,  same category but much better! We left once we finally food someone. Had to pay for one night. The owners are nice, I am sure they mean well but the hotel is just not very well maintained.

Not ready for guests - dirty pool, construction work, not recommendable

The place was under renovations at the time of our stay. 

Bathroom was very dirty and couldn’t see anything properly as the light was very dim. The sink tap barely had any water

Although it was supposed to be a continental breakfast all we got was bread, dhal curry, sambol and fish curry all very small portions considering we were a large group. This was odd as we noticed the other guests being served fruits. It would have been nice since our group had kids also. 

The dining room was a little creepy as it was lit green. 

The positives of the place was that they had a good pool with a view of the sea. And the beach was very clean and very beautiful 

All in all they ended up charging way too much for the place. So if your planning to stay here I’d recommend referring a menu before ordering any food items.
