Everything was as expected, the room is more spacious than it looks in the pictures. The bed is very comfortable and very clean, there are no bugs inside of the room! We want to highlight the breakfast, it was the best thing for us as they prepare something different everyday! The pancakes are amazing! The owner was very correct and helped us with information every time we needed it.

Very nice stay

This was our favourite stay in Sri Lanka! Soo clean and no bugs at all, not even an ant, crazy! The host is super nice and welcoming. Lots of big water bottles you can buy for 70s only and place in your private fridge. The bed is comfy, four pillows, great water pressure,  fantastic a/c and the breakfast is amazing. Wifi also worked great in our room and in the courtyard area. Our favourite aspect was the wild beach 1min wall away. It's the best swimming beach, very private, and there's a delicious restaurant there where we ate fried rice everyday for lunch for 500 rs. We stayed here for 3 nights but could easily have stayed longer. Highly recommend you stay here.

Wow, just wow!!

Whitegates lodge was a lovely room in a small villa just outside weligama. The man that owned was very friendly and helpful, the home made breakfast was delicious and different both days and it was served outside in the little garden area with a table and 4 chairs.

The WIFI and the bathroom are great.

Just across the road (1min walk) was a lovely little beach and had hardly any people on, great for swimming and chilling but probably not great for surfing as there werent many waves.

Surf boards were easy to rent nearby and a tuk tuk to Weligama was about 400 so a great location if you prefer the quiet just outside of the main town.

Lovely holiday villa

We booked for three nights and ended up staying for six. The home feels newly remodeled--very clean and modern. The owners are very kind and accommodating. And the breakfast each morning is unique and delicious. It's a quiet location with a quick walk to the beach.

Clean, comfortable stay with tasty breakfast

We were looking for budget accommodation in Midigama and Whitegates Lodge was well worth staying for four nights. The quality was way better than expected! The room was spacious enough for two people, beds were good, bathroom new and everything was really clean when we arrived. The family is super sweet, friendly and helpful. But they let guests enjoy the holiday and live their own life, without disturbing or being noisy.

We had booked beforehand the airport pick-up and the driver was waiting for us at the arrivals and drove us safely there. We reached Midigama late on Sunday and were looking for a dinner place. But for a small charge, they offered to cook us some delicious noodles & vegetables so that we didn't have to leave the house (it was also raining)! Breakfast varied a little from day to day, but there were always eggs and fresh fruits, tea & coffee. We enjoyed the most homemade roti, hoppers and banana pancakes :) Served in the garden, it was always a great start for the day. They sold water bottles with the same price as in the shops.

The location is a bit aside from Midigama "center" (closer to Ahangama) but surfing spots are within walking distance and in the evenings when it got dark we took a tuktuk to go for a dinner. Wifi worked well. They were always eager to help us getting directions and could give recommendations on where to go. The house is just off the main road so that you don't have to worry about the traffic noise. Also, across the main road there is a cute Wild Beach bar which can be recommended for lunch or afternoon relaxation spot.

Lovely house & family

Lovely place with only 2 rooms at the front of the family house. Each room has a separate entrance & there’s a big living area in front of the rooms with a sofa, table & seats if it’s raining. The room has a comfy bed & pillows & best of all in a humid beach location is the ceiling fan. The family are not noisy or intrusive, so no problem & owners, Dinesh & wife, Tharu, are very nice people & helpful.They have a privacy screen from their part of the house into the guest quarters. They also have 5 litre bottles of water there for a very cheap price. There's a kettle & cups in the room so you can also use that to sterilise water too - bonus!

The outdoor area has a lovely tropical & tranquil feel & we really enjoyed eating breakfast out there every morning or lazing in the hammock or bean bag/comfy padded chair. Breakfast is not included but it’s definitely worth adding on as you get a very good Sri Lankan breakfast. We stayed for 5 days & breakfast changed every day - the best dhal & potato curry we had in Sri Lanka! There's also a handy outdoor shower to wash off the saltwater & sand. WIFI works well.

Whitegates Lodge is down a small lane off the main road so far enough away from the busy road noise. The train line is pretty much behind the property but it was never a bother & we like to sleep late when on holiday. The small but pretty, Wild Beach, is just on the opposite side of the main road - less than a 1 minute walk (the beach is not wild but when you enter the water walk to right hand side to avoid rocks in the water). There's a little restaurant at the beach but be wary service can be very slow. They have coconuts for drinking too. Other restaurants are a 10 minute or more walk away in the (small) main town area, which didn't bother us especially as we were in a more peaceful area. Due to the walk, that's another good reason to add on their breakfast, unless you feel like a pre-breakfast hike up the road. There is a nice beach before the main town area, plus a left & right hand surf breaks here.

One our favourite stays out of the 9 different towns we stayed in over 24 days. I miss it!  Highly recommended.

We loved this place!

I’m giving this place 5 stars just because I cannot give 6!!! Perfect location, the best hosts, perfectly clean, spacious green yard with relaxing atmosphere, great patio and rooms and dining room, perfect Wi-Fi!
The house was built only a year ago and everything is new and tidy. The owner constantly enriches and upgrades everything. The house is at 30-40 m distance from the main road which gives peace and quiet, while most homes are situated directly on the main road. This is maybe the golden location of the area. The beach is just across the main road so you can be there in just 2 minutes walking. That is the so called Wild Beach which is mostly visited by families with kids. To the left there is another beach (the Midigama Beach – 7-8 minutes walking) which is suitable for surfing and snorkeling. You can go for 10 minutes and $4 by tuk-tuk to Wiligama town where you can buy anything from the shops. 5 minutes by tuk-tuk away is Ahangama – a smaller town where fruits and vegetables are cheaper.
The house is getting cleaned every day. I was there for 27 days and everything was perfectly clean all the time.
The yard is really big. That is something like an exception for this resort. While I was there I visited a few other houses and none of them had such yard. It’s very good for families with kids – you can play football, ride a bike, anything. The patio is great for relaxation. I used to sit there every evening and the hosts sometimes when they had time prepared delicious traditional Sri Lanka food for me at a very low price.
The rooms are comfortable and clean. There is a ceiling fan. The dining room is very good, too.
The hosts are such good people. I was there for 27 days. They made me feel as a member of the family. Extremely kind and helpful. You can count on them for anything. I felt as if I was not in a foreign country, but as if I’m a dear guest of a lifetime friend.
