After walking out of our pre booked hotel shattered how far from reality the photos were and a little desperate that we would be forced into compromised accom, we came across Insight. 
Whilst the price seemed quite expensive we inspected the room being offered and simultaneously looking at on line prices. 
We ended up having to pay rack rate for 2 nights but stayed 5 as the other nights were booked online at much better rates, thanks Agoda!
The hotel is perfectly positioned so have that advantage when pricing rooms. 
Cost aside we were very happy, the massage was excellent and the drinks by the pool very refreshing. 
And the staff made the whole experience worthwhile. 
Unfortunately the pool was HOT, probably 33-35C, so the ocean or outdoor showers were our cool down activity. 
Overall we were glad we stayed, unhappy to leave.

Great place in a great location. Check carefully for best deal

The food was good - both a la carte and buffet and the service outstanding. This was the only hotel on our tour up to this point that offered a good a la carte menu with everything on it actually available. Relaxing ambience throughout.
Lovely setting right by a good beach with some sizeable waves popular with surfers. Gates from the hotel garden open directly onto the beach and there are pleasant beach bars and restaurants a short walk away.
Good swimming pool and spa.
Room comfortable and with a genuine sea view rather than a token sliver of sea.
Two large complimentary bottles of water per day are supplied which removes the constant need to remember to buy additional water during the day. Post Office & ATM across the road at the back of the hotel. Beach cafes and shops are a few minutes walk away.

A most enjoyable stay for a couple days.
Loved being able to walk out of hotel and into the sea. Beach walk also nice.
Nice dining room and bar. We had a bbq & buffet on the beach on our last evening.
The pool is good and the area around pool for sunbathing good.
The staff attentive and well trained.
overall would have liked to stay longer.

Paradise 
If you are looking for a sanitised soulless resort hotel then pass by.  Insight is a small, Sri Lankan resort with so much charm.  All the staff and I mean all,  are welcoming, attentive and always obliging .  The hotel is obviously a happy place to work and that’s a credit to the owner and management. The location is beach front, you can almost dip your toes from the dinning room. There is a pool and chairs and beds scattered around the garden area.  The beach slopes quickly to allow swimming safely to one side of the hotel.  The sea can be choppy which allows excellent conditions for the dozens of surfers who are out from early morning .  The hotel is well set up for surfers but is better suited to mature and family types. In that, this is not a party destination.  The food is faultless.  Freshly cooked with a selection of Sri Lankan dishes each day along with the familiar western dishes.  Personally I’d rather stick to Sri Lankan but others will enjoy familiar food.  We also took the opportunity to take a Yoga class and would highly recommend.  The yoga instructor is very knowledgeable and will cater for complete beginners or take you through yoga practice according to your abilities.  The hotel also had gentle entertainment some evenings in the form of music which was a nice touch.  I am struggling to come up with any improvements.  I note that someone has mentioned dated furniture? True, it’s not furnished by Ikea.  Instead the rooms, well our room had a good selection of Sri Lankan wooden furniture which has served its owner well.  The hotel is spotless.  The shower room has also been upgraded recently so adds a touch of luxury.  The shower is powerful and hot.  Although with the temperature outside a cool shower was most welcome.  
I will highly recommend to our friends and anyone who is planning to visit Sri Lanka and we hope to return .

Fantastic hotel

Food excellent. Staff from management to servers, were friendly, very attentive and good at their job. Great beach and surfing. Although I don't enjoy the water so much ie swimming or surfing, the vibe of this place is very restful and relaxed. We had a wonderful wonderful stay.

Great experience

Lovely beach hotel. Rooms are of a good sized and are clean with plenty of hot water. Some of the furniture is a little worn. We had a balcony with a sea view. Buffet style food is served. We did have  very good BBQ on the beach with lots of lovely fish. Good size pool and small garden.

A precious holiday 

We stayed in Insight Resort, Ahangama with 6 of our Friends. Beautiful Hotel 
Very helpful and polite staff, We never felt unattended. Beautiful private beach access and spacious pool. We stayed in a Room with Sea View and the Room was Cosy. The food at the restaurant was Gorgeous and fresh. Value We will definitely come back in 2024!

Cosy Hotel in Ahangama!

I spent a weekend with few of my family members. We were warmly welcomed and staff were doing an amazing job even though a large number of guests were checking in at the same time. Rooms were clean and well maintained. The location of the hotel is very beautiful and it is mesmerizing how it has been built doing minimal damage to the natural environment. Food was exceptional and there were many options to choose

A great place on the beach with a charming cozy hotel & a very personal touch in service by staff at every level making a great holiday experience. Direct beach access to a lovely beach area. 

The Insight resort has its own charm with a nice swimming pool, a Balinese SPA and really wonderful experience for a charming holiday including the personal touch by every staff member who tries their best to make your stay a memorable one.

Recommended to anyone specially even families looking for a quality peaceful holiday on the beautiful southern beaches of Sri Lanka at this charming hotel. 

Assured of our stay once again when we visit beautiful Sri Lanka in the not so distant future.
