Pensión Santa Gema

If you are considering booking this hotel, you are probably doing so because of price. This is why I spent two nights here. I paid 15 euros/ person a night for a triple in June. Overall my experience was not that bad. The beds were comfortable, and the room was a good size. There was no en suite, but the shower was across the hall, and was quite powerful. The staff were friendly and helpful, and spoke quite good English. On the day I checked out I had a 5pm train, so wanted to leave my bags at the hotel while I spent the time before in the city. I explained this to the man at reception and said this was not possible as the reception was closed 2-4 (when I would need to pick them up). To solve the problem he let me keep the room till 5pm at no extra cost, and showed me a place where I could leave the keys. He didn’t have to do this and he saved me a lot of hassle. When we went Zaragossa was hot hot hot and the heat carried on during the evening. We were frustrated to see an aircon unit in the room, but could not find the remote anywhere. Maybe if we had asked at reception they might have given one, but it was closed when we wanted it. The hostel is a 20/ 25 minute walk to the old town which is where you will likely be going. This may be a good or bad thing depending on your needs. From our point of view it was a good opurtunity to walk off the copious amount of tapas we had eaten. I came in on train and there is not a bus that goes near the hostel. I’d advise getting a taxi if you come in this way or take a 25 minute walk which is what I did when I left. Would I stay here again? If I was on a budget yes, unless there was an equivalently priced hostel nearer the old town. I couldn’t find one when I booked though.
