Hotel Rural Casa Peleyón

The hotel is housed in a beautiful centuries’ old building that is lovingly maintained by its owner. The “common room” where guests may mingle and relax has splendid old curving wooden beams, rising to a high ceiling, comfortable armchairs and atmosphere appropriate to a stately home. The lady owner greets guests with an enthusiastic explanation of the history of the house, which makes one feel like a private visitor to the property of a distant relation. The upstairs rooms have a small terrace with charming views over the grass and treed area in front of the house. There is ample parking under a sun shade. Breakfast is copious and varied. The Albergue del Camino Norte, a five minute walk away, serves evening meals, at least at weekends. Food is simple but genuine Spanish, as is the atmosphere, with young parents sat in a group at a long table, loudly enjoying themselves, while their also young children play games or sit in a little group under the ping pong table. Sometimes simple pleasures are the most enjoyable. On the 29th of June, San Pedro, the nearby village has its annual patron saint feast. This event produces considerable noise until 2 in the morning, when volume is reduced. However, it was still ongoing at 5am, albeit at a lesser volume. I would imagine that for the rest of the year Casa Peleyon is fairly quiet, apart from the squeaky wooden floors! A beautiful small hotel well worth visiting, nonetheless!
