Kalindi

I am really glad that I made the trip to Lanzarote and to Kalindi. Their 14-day before-arrival cancellation policy was the deciding factor for me to choose Kalindi over another property. Communications were clear, helpful and timely with Elvira before arrival. After arrival, everything from the room, the arrangements of the B&B, and the location were exactly as described in Elvira’s emails or on their website. I booked a mindful hike and yoga retreat, which included 3 guided hikes, a 90min massage, daily breakfast, and yoga classes. It was just what I needed to recover from a prolonged phase of suffering from fatigue. The location of Kalindi is quiet and rural, but yet convenient to all corners of the island by car. I had a rental car and it was the right decision for exploring this beautiful island. My room Tierra is the perfect room for a single person with full-size bed, en-suite bathroom, and plenty of storage. It is located off the kitchen, so convenient for a cup of tea anytime. It did get noisy if others were cooking or talking in the kitchen, but a pair of earplugs solved the problem easily. Elvira’s team Peter, Marike, Cami stayed onsite and took care of guest check-in, cooking and serving breakfast, housekeeping, etc. They were friendly and helpful. My diet restrictions were accommodated and I enjoyed having breakfast everyday around the big outdoor table with other guests and Elvira’s team. Silvia, Francesca, Elvira and Sonia taught yoga, in Kundalini, Vinyasa and Hatha styles. I would say that the classes were taught at levels suitable for beginners, mostly likely due to the various practicing levels of the guests. Having been to similar yoga retreats, I knew this beginner level of teaching was to be expected. The yoga shala was bright and roomy, the teachers were attentive, so the classes were enjoyable. The 3 guided hikes were wonderful and offered distinctively different experiences. Silvia’s massage was a lovely experience, highlighted by her deep care to the senses of her customer. There was a concert onsite given by Marike and her bandmate one evening. It was a very nice event with good music, tasty food and drinks, and warm company. Elvira was like a mother character, just picture in your head an Italian mother who likes to take care of people. Her warmth was infectious. I understand that she took over the property almost 2 years ago and has made significant improvements with her management. I felt refreshed at the end of my 7-day stay. I think Kalindi is suitable for people who would like to chill out, could simply go with the flow and enjoy. If all-inclusive resort is your thing, then Kalindi is not for you.
