On Camino Santiago Santander is among the stations close to the sea. Offering sandy beaches as within Acapuco and Rio de Janeiro we appreciated a stop at la Playa Sardinero. The Pension Hotel Madrid offers the best stay one may imagine next doors to the City Center, another visit in Santander with the joy to meet Miguel. I trully recommend the pension Madrid even on business stops in Santander it is perfectly located rooms are clean and cosy, parking for car next doors. The Happy Sharing Campany was delighted of it's stay and I recommend it to any globe trotters pilgrims and business stays.

Friendly and welcoming. Rooms are extremely well fitted, exceeding my expectations. Similar to an apartment share; with individual bedrooms (3) and shared shower rooms (2). 
Much nicer than many hotels.

Great place to stay

Very centrally located, next to the train and bus station and supermarkets. Very clean and soundproofed and the owners are a very friendly couple.

A good pension, 35 euros a night, good cleaning, very nice owner, very comfortable rooms the only one but we had a cold because they didn't put heating and otherwise everything was great.If I went back to Santander I would stay in this pension again.

Santander is the place to be.

Our room was located in the guest's apartment in a quiet, somewhat dirty street not too far from the center of Santander. The room itself was practically furnished and very clean, which is what is most important to us in this price category. There were two bathrooms that had to be shared with the other guests. We didn't have to wait for the bathroom to be used. The bathrooms were very clean like our room. The guests were friendly and hardworking, but unfortunately we couldn't speak English. A communal room didn't give us a cleaner just like breakfast. Due to the cleaner and the very fair price, the accommodation seems to be a very good option for small wallets.

The lady is hospitable, smiling and helpful. The room and bathroom are clean. The building is close to all amenities. There's an elevator. Only a small bemool: the doors are noisy.

Well received

As the name "pension" suggests, in Spain it is not really a hotel but rooms in someone's house or apartment. You do need to buzz to get into the building for "checking-in." Usually most of the units in the same building is not a part of this "pension.'

Pension Madrid is on Calle (Street) Madrid, which is a relatively quiet street not that far from the main bus station. It is only one street from the seaside main street. Walking to the busier area is only 5- 10 minutes away.

The room is basic but comfortable. Bathrooms are all shared. For people from 3-4 rooms sharing two bathrooms, usually it is fine. Though my stay is not memorable, it was generally fine. the couple who run this pension seem not to speak English very well. While my Spanish is very rusty, it did help to try to communicate in Spanish (you're in Spain and choose to travel independently - thus it is certainly working better if you learn some of their language)

Like living in someone's apartment

The neighbourhood is not the best in Santander but it is close to the train station and you can get anywhere. The bathroom is shared. It is clean and tidy, the pension seems to be the receipts are taken more lightly, we are charged and no paper is given, I don't know if they have it declared, the treatment is too familiar. We were young and that is not always linked to inexperienced. I recommend Santander if you have the option of seeing Santander and you don't have much money. If I return to Santander I probably look elsewhere.

A good recommendation if you don't want to spend too much.

 Great location, very close to the promenade, bus and train stations, town hall and shopping area. Unbeatable deal and good quality-price ratio. Free Wi-Fi and TV. We'll be back. Good option to spend a few days in the region.

 Optimal Location and Comfortable

Excellent location next to the train and bus stations to visit the province comfortably, centrally, cleanly and with close family and friendly treatment helping you with anything you need.
