2606 reviewsThis was our first family holiday abroad and in peak season during Summer break (7 nights) and I can honestly say, it was better than we expected. Arrival: We arrived a few hours earlier before check in, however we were able to store our luggage’s in the communal luggage room (locked with a key provided by the reception) and any personal belongings can be stored in the lockers inside (€1 to use each time this was opened). The lockers were big enough to fit two hand luggages. We were able to enjoy the facilities before check in. Tourist tax for 2 adults: €46 for 7 nights. (child under 16 exempt) Room: We stayed at Magnus Style Suite (chose this for the modern facilities; AC and lift access). Room was smaller than photos shown here but I didn’t mind as we spent most of our time out. No luggage area however, ample space in bedroom to store luggages although we stored ours in the wardrobe space which was located in the living space (managed to fit two large and one hand luggage) No kettle or microwave (although I know some rooms had these) but again, it didn’t bother us as we didn’t spend much time in the room. Note, you can have tea in the snack room. Coffee machine with allocated number of pods (no refills after all the pods were used). Mini fridge included large bottle water, two cans of coke, two juice box, and a chocolate bar. Bottle of water were provided each time. Two single beds in main room, pillows and beds were comfy. One sofa bed in the living space. We had issues figuring out the AC as it didn’t feel like it was working but after reporting it to the reception, we had the maintenance team arrive in less than half an hour, and was able to sort this which really made up my whole trip as the whole purpose of us paying for Magnus Style Suite was for the modern AC we read about! Bathroom: We had a wet room (not an enclosed shower shown on photos here), hairdryer was really fast and different heating and cooling setting. Don’t worry about seeing the shower from the bedroom, it was frosted where it needed to be and couldn’t see a thing. There’s also a sliding door in the bathroom for privacy. Bathroom came with hair shampoo and conditioner, body wash and hand soap. Room Service: Towels and beddings were changed each time we put them in the laundry basket. Room was made each day (apart from one day). Beddings were changed twice during our stay. Sofa bed wasn’t changed. Noise level: Magnus Style Suite block was fairly quiet but this was all dependent on families nearby. Our room was above the restaurant so can hear when tables are being moved. It was noisy in the night being close to the snack bar. It wasn’t disruptive (little one still managed to fall asleep) and it would die down from 11PM which wasn’t so bad. Restaurants: We ate at the Fergus restaurant once during our stay, and it was busy, cramped and warm. Magnus restaurant didn’t feel as busy at its busiest as tables were spaced apart. Plenty of food options and were decent for all inclusive. There were some repetitive food but plenty for both kids and adults to choose from. Beers and wine on tap. Soft drinks included regular Coke, Coke Zero, Sprite and Fanta. Coffee and water machine. Restaurant staffs were friendly and hardworking. Magnus restaurant was opened for breakfast (7:30-10:30), snacks (11:00-17:00), dinner (18:00-21:00). Magnus residents would need to go to Fergus restaurant for lunch (12:30-14:30), although we had lunch at Magnus with the snack options which varies each day (pizzas, chips, nuggets, sandwiches, cakes, lasagne, pasta, burgers, fruits). Pool: Fergus side was busy as expected so we didn’t get a chance to really enjoy the slides etc. Magnus was busy at times but little one still enjoyed the two pools available and wasn’t crazy busy considering it was peak season. Sun beds were reserved by everyone but can honestly say, we were able to get two sun beds by the pool each time (even on our first day when we arrived midday) so no complaints there. I would recommend taking pool shoes as I had a small metal piece that got stuck on my swimsuit which luckily didn’t pierce my skin (and luckily didn’t get any of the children). There were sharp stones in the pool at times and just random bits (which I assume from other children bringing them in the pool to play), and have witnessed one child’s feet bleed (and was still in the pool untreated) and have seen other kids pee in the pool. Lifeguards could have been more vigilant with those from Fergus side as have seen a couple of people from Fergus side using Magnus pools. Not being a snob about this but does defeat the purpose of paying extra to use Magnus facilities. Entertainment evening: Was ok, kids enjoyed it. Not many seating areas so we stood for the 45 minute which we didn’t mind. Arcade room was dated, could have done a bit of refresh but kids still enjoyed. Popcorn machine was decent (which I was surprised) Outside hotel: Lidl was 6 minute walk from hotel which was handy. Beach was about 15 minute walk from hotel. Sun beds were €30 for all day use. Strongly recommend eating at Malgrat Playa if you want to eat decent paella! (€19 pp, big portion and fresh seafoods - even locals were there to eat) Overall: Was pleasantly surprised with this resort and would book Magnus side again for peak season. I would also recommend going to the Facebook group to check other families useful tips or reassurance if you’re feeling worried about coming here!
