Finca Son Mola Vell

Discovered this hotel by chance and what a lucky break that was. Set in quiet countryside on the South East of the island with magnificent views of the mountains but within easy reach of the coast and more distant but easy access to Palma. Ample parking . The hotel is an extended and converted Finca. All of the hotel was spotless and beautifully presented. Comfortable lounge, small dining room and lovely terraces and secluded seating areas. Good pool with fantastic views, comfortable sun beds and an honesty bar with the availability of lunch time snacks. Quiet and peaceful with just the sound of goat bells and a soft wind in the trees. Our room, a large double with terrace was well presented, good linen,towels, bath robes etc. comfy chairs and sofa, sun loungers, refrigerator, pity no wi if in rooms but available in the main part of the hotel. Our room had a vaulted ceiling so no air conditioning but two fans. A full length mirror would have been appreciated. Breakfasts are served on the terrace, fantastic choice, beautifully presented, eat to your hearts content. The hotel has a restaurant and the food is excellent, nice to mix with outside guests. The a la carte is not cheap but good value as is the optional three course meal currently at €30 euros a head, excellent value. Wines well priced and Stephaney (so?)is very knowledgeable on all wines and drinks. A G&T with ice and slice will never fit the bill after you have tried one of Stephaneys. You are offered the choice of local and various other gins, asked what character and flavour you like and it appears beautifully presented in a huge well chilled glass. Try the local Majorcan gin with cinnamon and citrus overtones. I cannot understand why the UK has not woken up to this hotel. It is all but exclusively patronised by German people, literature is mainly in German, however this is not a problem at all. All staff staff speak excellent English and are all too ready to assist in any way. Animal lovers. There are three donkeys stabled in the grounds,but not intrusive. There are three cats suplemented by well behaved dogs that sometimes visit when their owners are on duty. Get Eddy a real character to give you a High Five, especially if you have a tit bit to offer. Would we return, like a shot.
