Hostal Florida

I’ve used Hostales & Pensiones in Madrid before and had a variable experience. Hostal Florida is one of the better ones, representing great value for money & a superb location for sightseeing. Some reviewers seem to compare this with hotels, which really isn’t a fair comparison considering price. The room was very clean and quite basic; double bed, ensuite shower & toilet, small wardrobe. Yes, the Walls are a bit thin, so some noise from late night revellers, but in my experience that’s the nature of hostales. The location is great - 1 minute walk to the Tirso de Molina metro station and Plaza Tirso de Molina where there are great bars and restaurants offering good local food at a good price. Other destinations (Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, Palacio Real) are all within 10 minutes walk. I’d definitely use it again if I just want a sightseeing base and don’t want to pay over the odds.
