Hotel Rural El Zaguán

What a special little hotel this is. It is pet friendly. We were travelling with a newly adopted dog and didn't want to leave her in the room by herself. We couldn't find anywhere that would accept a dog in any eating establishment in Lerma and we returned from our walk around Lerma feeling rather sad and hungry. We managed to communicate with the owner and he was so kind and understanding. The owner set us a table in the breakfast area, where our new friend could sit quietly under the table during the meal. . The hotel had a large group visiting and the kitchen was cooking a meal for the group. We ate what was available and it was probably the best food we have eaten in our three month stay in Spain, including a range of regional specialities. The owner's son is the chef and he should be very proud of the food her served. I cannot thank them enough for their kindness, hospitality and friendship. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious and the room was comfortable. The hotel has genuine historical features but coupled with contemporary twist. This hotel is a gem. It's in a lovely location, a short distance from secure underground parking. Lerma is beautiful.
