La Posada del Grifo

This is a room above a bar and that's all it is, if you want a more typical hotel experience, don't stay here. The bar is on the corner of a very pretty old square called Plaza del Grano on some maps and Plaza Santa Maria on others. The square is on the outskirts of the historical centre of Leon, a short walk to all the main attractions. The room was clean, quiet and perfectly adequate for a three night stay. The bar was a little gem which opened early for breakfast (limited choice but high quality), was open for lunch and dinner and stayed open for a few last drinks before bed. Whilst the bar was busy at night and open late there was no problem with noise as the clientele were generally quiet. The bar staff spoke English and were always friendly. I really enjoyed my stay at La Posada del Grifo but before you book, please remember that in (slightly archaic) English this would be called an Inn rather than a Hotel.
