A Avoa María

A Avoa Maria is a beautifully restored stone farmhouse set in its own grounds with lovely views and also with a large enclosed patio courtyard. The house is furnished with tasteful furniture and there are many artistic touches and a great attention to small details. The kitchen is extremely well equipped and this would be a great house for a group of friends to share or a couple of families. We were lucky enough to have it all to ourselves. It is a very peaceful place in a very pretty area. Elena was most helpful. She speaks a little English and gave us information about what to see and do. There is also a library full of information ( mostly in Spanish). She took us to the local supermarket a few miles away, provided us with fruit and nuts and even took us for a drink and a snack. Elena provided some local food for us when we arrived and got us breakfast the first morning, which we paid for, but the fridge was stocked with food and beers and we were told to help ourselves. Don't expect a kettle, dishwasher, 2 pillows and bedside lamps which we have found are not very common in Spanish Casa Rurales and also expect a shower which it is hard not to swamp the bathroom with, when using, but otherwise everything was great. Some towel rails would have been good though and a chair in the bedroom but overall we were very pleased with the house.
