Casa do Batán hotel con encanto

We were so blessed to return to this sweet paradise four years after we first discovered it - and this time our stay was even more delightful! Antón and Luz are quite possibly the most gracious and charming innkeepers in all of Spain! We went to relax after walking El Camino de Santiago and found it the perfect reward. Words fall short in describing just how idyllic, relaxing, serene and cozy this place is. The rooms are whimsically decorated and comfy. Windows open to lush green grounds with panoramic views of the countryside. Gurgling brooks and chirping birds add even more of a sense of tranquility and calm. On the ground floor, there’s a sitting room with a centuries-old fireplace and a fabulous history. Then there’s a little library in the mill room filled with books and a comfy wrap-around sofa. And the breakfasts during our three-day stay were spectacular! Fresh eggs to order, sizzling bacon, fresh salmon with capers, sauteed vegetables, yummy cheeses and meats typical of the region. All this was accompanied with homemade cupcakes, muffins, pancakes, fresh bread and homemade preserves and spreads. There were several kinds of fruit and the very best fresh-squeezed orange juice. Topped off with a pot of perfectly-brewed coffee and plenty of hot milk. The dining room was quaint and charming. Soft jazz music played in the background. Mmmmm! When we arrived in the evenings we were treated to the yummiest homemade chocolates and tasty liqueurs in the mill room. On the day we left, they prepared two amazing tortillas de patatas for a take-home picnic (pre-arranged for an extra fee) that got rave reviews from my Spanish family members. We wish we could book the whole place for a year or two… Who knows maybe if we travel the Camino again God will reward us with a longer stay in this little bit of heaven on earth… We're dreaming of that time right now... :)
