Hostal La Marina

This was not the hotel we stayed in but the place we visited twice to eat. If you are old enough to remember the small hotels dotted along the Spanish coast then this will bring those memories back. The Hostel is run by a family and provides a menu at 13 euros for three courses. House wine is 8 euros and very drinkable, as a tip in this part of Spain red wine is chilled. If you prefer it at room temperature ask for the wine 'natural'. The surprise is the quality of the food all served in simple surroundings. The young chef takes pride in the presentation and quality of the food he serves and the key to his success is his training. He spent a year working in the kitchen of a 2 Michelin star restaurant in Gerona. He will go onto a further year at catering school to finish his education. No wonder that this part of Spain has so many Michelin starred restaurant's. If you are in the area please try this establishment, you will be delighted you did.
