Can Piferrer

Every year we try to find a base for our active family. Can Piferrer has been perfect. It has lovely grounds which are perfect for hide and seek, football, cricket (!) plus of course the lovely salt water pool. Our apartment (El Forn) was comfortable (others are bigger) and Judith and Josep could not be more thoughtful and welcoming. We made lovely friends (both Spanish and English (based in France)) and enjoyed numerous suppers outside overlooking the foothills of the Pyrenees on one side and the Costa Brava on the other. You can go for a run, take the bikes out for a spin or just take it easy. We did all of this and more besides. Highly recommended for a rustic break.

Super nice gite in beautiful surroundings. Owners warm and welcoming for their guests. Good base to explore Costa Brava. When is Cassa dela Selva try the Rotisseria for their chicken, weekend only best in town

Just back from a week at Can Piferrer. Lovely accomodation and friendly hosts. The 4 person villa was comfortable, well designed and very well equipped. (It was hot like on previous review, but there was a heatwave in Spain and there was an air conditioning unit.) We were welcomed with a big tray of vegetables from the garden and a bottle of wine. The information booklet was really useful, especially for the best beaches. 
There's complete peace and quiet but its also a 5 minute drive or 15 minute bike ride to a town with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants, 20 minutes to lovely beaches - picturesque and quiet or busier with activities for kids and 20 minutes from Girona. Best things - the lovely saltwater pool, the beautiful view of fields and mountains, beaches, proxmity to Girona, friendly hosts who leave you to enjoy your holiday but are always on hand to help.

Lovely week with the family. After a slightly awkward start (being reprimanded by the owner for being 10 minutes early and disturbing her lunch) we enjoyed a week of amazing views, lovely swimming pool and relaxation. The upstairs of El Forn was as sold (an oven) and the children ended up sleeping in our room because the loft room was far too hot for them (30 degrees at night).  The area is lovely with some great walks/runs/cycling routes. We enjoyed watching the sun go down over the mountains every evening. All in all a very nice place to stay.

Can Pifferer Casa petitia

On the 1st night at the Cottage I spotted a rat in the kitchen. In the morning, I  called the osts Josep & Judith. His immediate response was: ‘we’re responsible if a bed breaks or if it’s dirty but not for a rat.’  They were rude & sullen, acting as if they’d been inconvenienced. They eventually agreed to clean the downstairs & instal a rat trap (see picture) .We would have moved, but there were no other accommodation options.  (We noticed that the rat trap had been disturbed during our stay).
In addition, the property is misleadingly described online. They’ve included pictures of another unit in the building alongside ours.  In reality, there’s a main bedroom with a mezzanine for the 2nd room, with curtains dividing the 2 spaces. The room aren’t closed off, so sound travels between them. In addition, the bathroom is very basic with poor lighting & an unfinished wooden ceiling.
When we had to deal with the hosts during our week at the property they were non-responsive to calls and texts. 
So, if you want to avoid a rat, rudeness, & misrepresentation, avoid this property along with Josep & Judith.
