The metro station passeig de gracia is just a few minutes away and the neighborhood is very shopping so super convenient, the room is clean, very cozy, even modern + continental breakfast with a lot to offer..it's a real meal I'd come back to Casa BALMES I'll talk about it in very good terms about myself (friends, colleagues etc) It's really the BEST address for a pleasant stay in Barcelona

I'm not sure.

We spent three nights there. Unfortunately the staff only spoke Spanish and no other foreign language. The room was okay. The cosmetics mentioned in the description were missing. Breakfast is average. Positive is the proximity to the subway.

Short vacation

we are currently staying at this casa - and simply it is awful. 
1. they took the booking.com fee 2 weeks ago when we had the right to cancel up to one day before arrival
2. the rooms are incredibly noisy - it should be illegal to charge for them. the room we were given was right outside the breakfast room... from 6am all you hear is people eating their breakfast and talking and we have not had one night of proper sleep. when we asked to change rooms the owner said we were being too sensitive!!!!
3. we were refused to change rooms which means we have to stay another 2 nights here, and the owner has been totally unhelpful. she can only be contacted by phone, and the house keeper doesnt speak english. 
4. dont stay here.

DONT STAY HERE - AWFUL

We came back from a six-night stay in this hotel room in Barcelona. We had rented the upper room because we were 2 adults and 2 teenagers. The hotel room is easily accessible by metro from Catalunya Square. We were on the sixth floor and had a beautiful view of the city. The staff is very helpful and friendly. And especially the charming Carolina always takes little care of us. Lunch is provided and very good. Every morning there is a new homemade cake. The room was very clean and comfortable with air conditioning and private bathroom for this room there. I highly recommend this place, to anyone who wants to spend a pleasant stay in private hotels.

Family stay in Barcelona

Good place to stay in Barcelona. Older wood interior , clean and comfy. Stayed there for 2 nights and i love it. Will definitely recommend to my friends. Staff is helpful and welcoming.   Breakfast is very good with good options.

Casa con Estilo Balmes

On the sixth floor of an apartment building is this pleasant hotel, which has a warm and personalized attention.The decoration is neat and tasteful, the rooms are spacious and well ventilated.In the morning a very complete and varied breakfast is served, with homemade food in a dining room with boiserie and crystal spiders, next to a sunny terrace overlooking the Montjuic.

Excellent price to quality ratio.

First time in Barcelona couldn't have been better. :) We decided to stay in this b&b via our friends recommendation and weren't dissapointed. 

- The building itself is gorgeous old apartment block from late 1800 or early 1900's. The buildings character is still very much there, therefor expect the lift to be a bit small compared to modern lifts. 
- The whole b&b was very tidy, only little things were something to do with the building itself being so old. 
- Rooms have no tv's, so in our case this was a very welcomed break from goggle box. ;)
- No fridges, in case you are planning a picnic in your own room.
- Location is away from the most busy and touristy areas, metro will take you to Placa de Catalunya station in less than 10 minutes, which is really handy. Trains are incredibly neat and tidy! 
- Walking distance from places such as Park Guell.
- Best tapas: Hidalgo restaurant across the road!

Our room was on top floor, with direct access to the rooftop terrace - views are amazing! Mt Tibidabo and the hills on the other side and with little bit of neck stretching you can see the Barcelona coast line, Sagrada Familia's turret's rising above rooftops and Montjuic + castle. Room had a private bathroom that was used via corridors, so it's not en-suite - this didn't bother us, since on the top floor there is only one other room and we saw the other residents only by few glances. Other words, this place offer privacy even with shared facilities.

Service is to be expected to be mostly in spanish or catalan - we spoke neither, but still everything went perfect. The staff look after you very well and breakfast has plenty to offer. We felt very much pampered and well looked after. Thank you for that! :)

We will be back in Barcelona and more than likely will come back to Casa Con Estilo. <3

Lovely oasis in Barcelona

The property, on two levels, is truly atmospheric and full of beautiful antiques except the two rooms that share a bathroom with the housekeeper.

I would definitely stay here again in one of the rooms on the top floor which are large, light filled and very very attractive.

Pluses:
- housekeepers lovely and helpful
- 10 minutes from the centre of Barcelona by metro, very short walk to station
- lovely range of breakfast offered although the "hot" water was simply warm
- free WIFI
- balcony for sunbathing or breakfasting
- character property
- clean and well maintained
- supermarket close by and some bars and restaurants

Negatives
- quite noisy if you are on the lower floor
- no TV
- only one electric socket per room
- no way to make a hot drink 
- not a place to go if you have mobility issues - metro is accessed by lots and lots of stairs

Beautiful Place BUT DO NOT BOOK THE TWO ROOMS THAT SHARE A BATHROOM

I have been to Barcelona many times and I never tire of this charming guesthouse. I am looking for Celinda and Diana's warm dream. I thank them for being so discreet and at the same time, if available. After a good night's sleep, the small buffet lovers are especially appreciated (on the terraces and the bread made house) and why not mysteries! After visiting and shopping in the bustling city, it is a real haven of peace and quiet. A warm dream of Celinda and Diana; I thank them for being so discreet and at the same time, if available. Charming guest house

It is an apartment on the sixth floor of a residential building; some rooms with bathroom, others with shared bathroom, but almost private. beautiful period furniture 4 meters from Piazza Catalunya (line L7); good restaurants a few tens of meters away.
