We had a room with a rather old renovation and yellow divorces on the ceiling, plus before us there lived smoking people, apparently the smell didn't go away. Although there is a small balcony. We are not capricious, so our stay in Barça didn't obscure these nuances. I make everything sound, because for some it's important. The bed is large, comfortable, a small knitted table and two chairs, an old wardrobe, all held up under the old fashioned way.

Cozy retro-style hostel in the heart of Barcelona

 Hotel  selected by default. We were also afraid because of the comments but we managed to relate... Equipment: common kitchen with refrigerator/ oven/ microwave and common water room as well. wifi, fan and TV in the room. Positive point: good geographical situation. Negative points: room too small (you can barely walk around the bed) vintage facilities (in our TV and connected to the glass > no TV without light...) We lock very fine rooms we hear about everything and everyone and above all the entrance door which must be slammed to be slammed from the outside... (closure system...) Removal of odors in the water room and the building will close

Not bad for the money, we were expecting much worse.
The location was very good, only a short walk from Passeig de Gracia and the Batló house.
The room was small without wardrobe witch is a very negative aspect.
The bed was good but no cleaning service in the room in the 2 nights that we stayed there.
The bathroom was ok but very small. I got access to a well equipped kitchen and a small living room.
The wifi was very good.
The very big positive aspect was the owner of the place witch was very helpful with us, even printing out our boarding cards and storage our luggage until the flight hour. Amazing

Not has bad...

We chosen the Chaplin Guest House a little out of proportion, since at the time of our late booking, the Chaplin Guest House had only a few rooms left in the centre and at affordable prices (weekend of the Ascension required). As I read the comments, I was very afraid to discover where we were going to arrive, but our stay was ultimately not as awful as what I expected. The positive points were: - Firstly, the Chaplin Guest House had a few very, very well-built rooms. It is located in the centre and at affordable prices (weekend of the Ascension required).

Imperfect, but not worthy of his bad reputation

The hotel is very well situated, close to the Passeig de Gracia so close to the metro and train station. On foot the Catalunya Square is not far either and from there the whole city centre. The hostel is located in a large building with neighbors on the other floors. It is all old and is run by young people who are a little hesitant. The rooms are medium and the common parts are correct but nothing more, let's say for the price I expected much better in Barcelona... Not top but it falls apart.
