Good
309 reviewsRe some of the other reviews, I’ll open by saying that if what you prefer is the cookie-cutter hotel experience, this is not the hotel for you. But if you’re a traveler who likes the quirks that come with history combined with a great location, consider Hotel Bellas Artes. It’s certainly a surprising place. Examples: -They have a rooftop terrace with a view of the Jerez Cathedral a stone’s throw away (see photo). But they don’t advertise it! It seems ignored, just some stools around. But I took my morning coffee up there and basked in the morning sun while reading the news and it was just splendid. -Our room (217) had a little balcony overlooking the square, with a garden of red roses. Inside the room, right in front of the window, are the bathtub/open shower and sink. I guess this was the only place they would go? The bathroom with toilet and bidet is separate. I did NOT notice bad smells from it, as some other reviewers noted. Normal hotel considerations: -Place is nice & clean -Staff speak great English and make good recommendations -Unlike the hostel we stayed at before this, it is quiet overnight, and the (very firm) full bed is not two twins pushed together! -WiFi is somewhat unpredictable, but again, better than our previous hostel. -Room has mini fridge and there are bevs available off the lobby for sale -Hotel breakfast not bad (costs €8), decent spread, but served in a drear location. -Lobby is splendid, white marble, love the fresh lilies at the reception desk, and the 2nd & 3rd floors are patio style, open to the lobby below. -Elevator does not seem to work -The artwork throughout is a nice touch -You can walk everywhere: various squares with bars & restaurants, Alcazar, Cathedral, hammam, bodegas, even the train station if you’re ambitious. Overall a nice stay, with a feel of being past its prime and rather odd, but still proud. We would stay here again.
