Great location next to express bus station. But not usual bus station area. Clean Nice and quite. 200m from nice beach. Bus to national park just over road and every 10mins. Plenty of nice places to eat and convience stores. Place not tacky pink as in photo. But smart black and white now

I think the main selling points of this hotel were the location (right next to the Express Bus terminal) and the price (extremely cheap all things considered). The hotel is pretty big and has a sort of sprawling old world B&B feel to it. It's not very modern in terms of the decor, but not badly maintained either. The room was large and had a fridge/large TV with quite a few channels.

Downsides? Well, the staff didn't speak any English and it was a little bit of a challenge trying to check in as I'd only made the booking a few hours before online. They were friendly enough though and we managed to sort it with the help of Google Translate. Maybe some people would find it a little dated and it's certainly not a high end hotel, but I think overall it was excellent value and I'd stay again.

The architecture of this motel is interesting and it's pink.  Comfortable hotel with very nice staff.  Wifi works well too.  Lots of places to eat outside and short walking distance to Sokcho Beach and Abai Village.

I stayed here for a couple of nights as a base to go visit Seoraksan. As others have noted, the Rocustel is right behind the express bus station and about 10-15 min by bus from the intercity bus station. The bus to Seoraksan stops just up the road, and there are other sights nearby so the location is excellent. 
My room was up on the 8th floor (they have a lift!), with a glimpse of ocean view, and was simple but comfortable. I had a multicoloured light up ceiling light complete with ships wheel as decoration, TV, WiFi, and all the amenities were provided. There are lots of restaurants and convenience stores nearby and the main shopping strip and night market end of town is 10 min by bus or a decent walk. 
The manager was friendly and helpful. This is a really good budget option as a base for exploring the area.

We stayed at Rocustel hotel for two nights, using it as a base to visit Seoraksan national park. We got the express bus from Seoul and it was easy to get to the hotel. The hotel location is great, just behind the express bus station - you can see the hotel as you're pulling in. In terms of getting to the park there is a bus stop only a couple of minutes walk, and also only a few minutes walk to the bus stop for the intercity bus terminal. There are some good local restaurants in the vicinity and numerous convenience stores and a supermarket. 
We had a double room, it was very spacious and clean. There was a big tv and good wifi. Fridge, kettle, bottled water, soap, shampoo etc. All provided. We slept very well in the big bed, and after hosteling for the last month it was nice to have a big room! Good hot shower also for after walking. The decor is not the newest but consider it quirky, retro and fun, enjoy it! 
The hotel manager was extremely helpful in giving us directions to the park and also for our onward journey to Gyeoungju.
 Recommend staying here, a great base to go to Seoraksan.
