This is a hotel in name only - I ended up here because the hotel owner that I was supposed to be staying with, found out that I had been to North Korea and refused to host me. I was therefore left without anywhere to stay 3 weeks before my trip and had to just pick somewhere that was as close Hyopjae beach as possible so as not to ruin my holiday. 

It also turned out that this 'hotel' for a 7 night stay was about £600 - which is an order of magnitude of about 1000% more than they should be charging. It's a hotel in name only. 

Essentially you are paying for a very tired room with a grotty balcony that looks like it's out of the 70s. During the week I was there the room was not cleaned other than the bin being emptied - they didn't make the bed or clean the bathroom, which is pretty disgusting. As I was going to the beach every day, sand got back into the room and into the bed and it was like living in one great sand pit. As for the bed, it was so uncomfortable that I've had to have two deep tissue massages since being back in the UK, to sort out the knots in my back. 

There are no facilities in the hotel - reception is barely manned, they refused to get me an airport transfer on arrival, they just about managed to grudgingly get me a taxi on the way back to the airport, and if you want to eat or drink anything for breakfast, then you need to walk 10 minutes to the cafe at Hyopjae (which was ironically immediately below the place I was supposed to be staying). 

I tried not to let the hotel ruin my stay - at leat the wifi was working fully. It is not a hotel and I do not recommend under any circumstances. The only ray of light was that booking.com refunded me almost £400 when I returned, which was the difference in price between where I'd stayed and where I ended up. It didn't totally compensate for the terrible room, back pain and lack of eating possibilities. 

As the previous person said - caveat emptor.

I have never experienced this kind of event so I don't know where to begin.  

I have arrived earlier than expected and arrived at this LK hotel. 

1) there is no one at the lobby or front desk.  So I called the hotel and after about 10th trial, I get someone on the phone.  

2) Immediately his response is very rude and threatening.  His attitude was "why are you calling me at 10am"?  He says "No body comes to hotel at 10am".   I couldn't respond to such unexpected comments. 

3) I asked if I can check in early.  His response was very simple "no" with no further comments.  I asked him if I can get a room earlier and I am happy to pay for it.  His response was again "no".  I asked if I can leave my bag.  His response was just leave it at lobby.  I asked him how can I leave my bag at the lobby when there is no one at hotel front desk.  His response was "silence".   Since I was suppose to meet my friends to surf, I asked him if there is any place for me to change.  His response was "no".  Then I asked him don't you have a bathroom that I can use to change my cloths.   His response was - why are you asking me this. You wait there at the lobby as I want to see your "face"

4) then he comes to the lobby with another really big guy.  You can immediately tell he is local gangster.  He is drunk with alcohol smell and he light up his cigarette and tell me "why are you being a such pain"???

5) then he comes close to me with his gangster buddy and just breath down my neck.  He is physically threatening me for asking too much. 

This never happen to me and I don't even know what I had to do.  Being physically threatened by the hotel staff???  What the heck is this?  

Someone should call the local police and report this.  It's all on hotel CCTV.  

No one should go to this hotel unless you are looking for a fight with local gangster.
