Cozy place for a 1-night stay!
Nice breakfast included, basic housing but made with love to the details and very clean.
We are very happy about our stay here, and can recommend it for a short stay to visit the southerland observatory - it’s 13 minutes away 

This was my first visit to Sutherland, our hosts was great, warm and friendly, we felt right at home the moment we checked in. The room was great with everything that you might need. We dined in on both nights because the food was just to good! their burgers are the bomb!!

We recently spent a night in Sutherland at the Whitehouse Inn. It is conveniently located on the main Street, the rooms are very comfortable and checking in and out was done with a smile. Excellent service and food in the restaurant, so no need to go out and brave the elements.

We visited this restaurant on our last night in sutherland... i was absolutely blown away by the value for money of the food. The portion was huge.. but what blew me away was the taste... omw the chicken burger... i would return all the way there again just to taste it again! You can see that the owners take great pride in the food! I still dream of that burger! Make sure that you book/make a reservation before you go!

Very well located in the Centre of town. Rooms are big and very comfortable. Outside area well maintained including pool and secured parking. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. The only place where you can get have dinner on a Sunday evening. Food was outstanding

Hosts were superb. Homely atmosphere and very tasty food in the restaurant - home style cooking. Welcoming. Service and accommodation very pleasing indeed. We would make use of the venue again when we visit Sutherland. Knowledgeable about the area.

easy to book, amazing reception and personal care during our stay.   Due to our working hours we had no confirmed booking time but the owners were amazing in accommodating our every need.  Clean, comfy and would recommend this as a place to stay anytime!

We enjoyed then casual , family type of accommodation.  The staff were super helpful and the room was warm with extra blankets for a cold night.   We had a good dinner and breakfast.  We enjoyed the company of the dogs .  Safe off street parking was a bonus.

Although we booked for only one night's stay, we thoroughly enjoyed the entire set-up of The Whitehouse Inn. The hosts, including their staff, were absolutely on point where it comes to client service. Will definitely go back for a longer stay.

Like everyone else, we came to Sutherland to see the SAAO telescopes. The town is only a few blocks in each direction, and you will be able to see the Church, the gift shop and Planetarium all within a couple of hours, so one night here is sufficient, with the main focus being the night sky. The Whitehouse Inn is well run, clean and very friendly. The bar gives you a chance to meet local people in the evening, and the restaurant is one of the better choices in town. The funishings are most definately "mid-century", but the rooms are spacious and the DSTV has lots of channels.  We staying in the two bedroom apartment over the bar accessible by outside stairs.The building has a long history, and has been modified to function in its current incarnation as a hotel, so the shortcomings are part of the charm, in my opinion. The full breakfast was included, so overall a very good value for money.

This is Sutherland...

Location was fine, although opposite a police station which was very noisy. Friendly hosts, secure parking. Electric blankets were the cherry on the top for a very cold night.
Breakfast was dismal. I do not eat eggs so was asked if I would like a fried tomato.....well two thin slices of tomato which might have been dipped into a pan was served. That was not impressive at all.
Shower water trickled at time, so it was a bit brrrr.
The rest was all fine.

Unbelievably great burgers!

We have enjoyed the stayover at Baroe guest house. There is more than enough space and is was furnished very comfortable. The water restrictions did not interfere with our stay. The only thing is that the internet did not work. The food at the White house was good but the takeaway breakfast very expensive.

Stayed in a outside room. Very well appointed for Sutherland. Kitchen. Great hot water. Comfy beds. Ian and his staff were so helpful to two older gents. Food and service was festive and good. Liked the big bar area. Great parking. Central for our Star Gazing.

Ian has really set up an amazing place. Rooms are comfortable and equipped for the cold in Sutherland. The place is welcoming with friendly staff. Dinner was supurb with well prepared meals of lamb curry and karoo lamb chops. The pup is a place where you can meet other visitors and enjoy a dram.
