Indalu Game Reserve

We visited as part of a cruise ship stop and the family were so accommodating. Our times changed a few times and they opened early for us in the end which I’m glad they did. 

The experience was simply once in a lifetime experience. The whole family were so lovely and made sure we got to see all the animals we wanted. 

The elephant experience was epic. Plenty of time with the walking and feeding. It’s all so safe and the animals well looked after. We left blown away by the day

We were starting our South Africa cruise with a stop at Mossel Bay. We found a private tour operator that agreed to bring us to Indalu Game Reserve.  What a fabulous tour it was. In the first part, we did the walk with the Elephants. Our driver-guide, Hanro was exceptional.  Despite his young age (he is the son of the owner), he knows every square inches of the reserve.  He is very polite and also very funny.  I've done over 1000 shore excursions during my cruises.  I have ranked that one in the top 5 of them.  Not often you have the opportunity to be up close with the animals, especially in their own environment.  Each of us had the chance to pet them, walk with them and most importantly, feed them. Wow Wow and again Wow. They are not in a cage and the size of the reserve gives them all the freedom they need.  For the second part, Hanro drove us in another part of the game reserve.  He knew where to go to see the animals. We can't comment about the accomodation as we did not stay there.  In conclusion, anyone planning a visit to South Africa, whether you are driving, sailing or taking tours, make sure you include a visit to the Indalu Game Reserve.  Truly unforgettable.  Big thanks to Hanro and the entire Indalu family.

We came for the elephant walk experience. WOW we were blown away with how amazing of a time we had. Our guide was so great in telling us about the elephants and how they care for them, as well as some facts about them. 

I would recommend this for anyone who wants to see these animals up close and personal, in an ethical and humane way.

My wife and I will NEVER forget this experience for the rest of our lives.

BEST DAY EVER! Elephant experience was incredible, you get a lot of time with them & you get to touch & feed the elephants. Elephant handles are lovely and so knowledgeable! Thank you to Hanro for making the day happen on very short notice from us.

This was a wonderful experience. Spent time walking with the elephants. Amazing family outing. Highly recommended it. Gerhard was a wonderful and knowledgeable tour guide. Loved it. Will definitely visit again and will recommend it as a family outing.

We visited the wonderful Indalu Game Reseve for an interaction with the 2 elephants Moketsi and Bakari. We did the walk with them and their handlers. Highly recommended experience with these majestic animals! The knowledge and expertice of the handlers and game rangers are also top notch.  We can highly recommend this adventure. Highly recommend  this game reserve , we had done a few previously, and they were amazing , but this was on the next level .
Small groups made it a more personal experience  , great tour guide there was nothing he didn't know , will definitely  return  and maybe a overnight stay next time too , amazing 10 out of 10 

all good. Stayed one night. Met an elephant and ostrich.  Chalets were warm and comfortable. Owners and staff were helpful. Springbok and other buck come close to the accommodation. Kitchen is separate. Bring food and drink with you. The elephant walk was a standout.

Wonderful!  Highly recommend the walk.   Up close experience with these beautiful elephants.   Plenty of photo opportunities.  Owner is kind, and the elephant handlers so interesting with both general elephant facts and details about the farm's elephants. 

Catch your breath as you will be in awe!An elephant may be large in size but the imprint they leave on your heart is so much bigger.

There is no doubt these elephants are getting the very best care. 
Their guardian guides hold a genuine understanding and connection with them. Thank you gentleman for sharing your vast knowledge with us on the walk. We felt safe at all times.

The giraffe pair, rhinos and zebra foals ensured non stop surprises ! 
I’ll leave it for you to visit the reserve and discover the real meaning of a “front row seat”.

Best experience ever

Fantastic Elephant Experience

Gerhard made our day.  His personal service was above and beyond. I booked last minute and he did all in his power to make it a memorable experience.  The elephant encounter and walk was one of  the highlights of our day.  Not to be out down was a safari ride through his game reserve.
We had the most memorable experience when 4 rhinos came up next to the jeep.  One was a baby so we tried to keep a safe distance.  We saw so many animals it was a spectacular day.  Indalu  is a great family run reserve and I highly recommend it.

Fabulous Day at Indalu Game Reserve 

After a warm welcome we were directed to our lodge. Which was a very pleasant surprise! It was fully equipped. Every thing was there. Very big separate kitchen kitchen area. A campfire place. A braai. Etc.
The bedroom lodge was also big and very cosy. The safari began with a magical walk with elephants! ca.1 km. After that in the car we drove the whole area and saw rhinos giraffes, impalas, kudus and much more! In a nutshell a 10 out of 10 

Magical experience!

Words can hardly explain what we experienced. This family owned business brings so much appreciation for the visitors. They really do care to provide you a perfect day. We saw plenty of big animals close by, had a nice Picknick and learnt quite some interesting things. A beautiful brandnew vehicle brought us safe and almost comfortable through the ressort.
Many thanks again to the nice and gentle guy who was the son of the owner‘s family.

extraordinary, outstanding experience

An unbelievable, once in a lifetime experience. This place did not disappoint. Everything about it was amazing. The staff, the location, the animals. I would highly recommend this experience. It was wonderful. We drove in the game drive truck through the preserve and saw zebras, spring box, rhinos and more. We fed the elephants and the staff took extra time to make sure we had lots of photos and videos.
