Sodwana Bay Lodge

Great venue. It was really convenient for the accommodation, to be so connected with the Billfish 15000 competition. The room was clean and well kept. the bed was comfortable. I enjoyed watching the local wildlife, so close to my chalet.

What an amazing place.  I was not aware of "no open fires". We took a potjie pot and charcoal.  Please put this on your website to inform people.  It was no Biggy as we used  the grill and oven, but it would of been nice to know.

1st family diving holiday for 5 years. The Coral Divers team were great starting with James patiently taking us through a refresher session in the pool to a range of dives on 2,5 and 8 mile reefs. All the reefs were in good condition , the sites weren’t crowded and there was the unexpected benefit of migrating whales ( often with young) passing close by on nearly every trip

So we didn’t stay at Sodwana Bay lodge because like many other places in Sodwana it was fully booked by the time we started looking for a room. However we saw on Internet that they offer bird safari walking tours, which we were really interested in! We called the lodge and they gave us the number of Jabulani, a local expert in birds! Not only did he advise us a better site to spot birds according to the time of day, he was also like the god of birds lol. At first I thought he was making it all up…. But we actually saw birds really close with the binoculars (he lent us his!), he was 100% right all the times! He also greatly helped us to actually spot birds whereas we couldn’t see any at first. Jabulani is also an awesome storyteller and such a great guy all around. Thank you again Jabulani. And kuddos to Sodwana Bay lodge for promoting local expertise !!

We go to Sodwana for diving with Adventure Mania. Sodwana Bay Lodge provides the ideal accommodation for our trip. It is spacious, clean, well equipped and reasonably priced. It has facilities for rinsing and drying our equipment. It has an on-site restaurant and we'll kept swimming pool as well. The gardens are neat and well kept and chalets nicely spaced apart. We are even treated to some wonderful bird life and often see a group of Nyala grazing around. 


It was a great stay, the tranquility of the area and the perfect staff. It was satisfying to have such a holiday during a difficult year. My family and I would come back anytime and we have decided to make it our destination every year. 

We enjoyed our stay soooo much ..everything was top class as per below mentioned rating.  we enjoyed the warm hospitality of the staff and people around. Meals at the restaurant was divine, and above all it was so affordable....thanks guys for a wonderful stay

Our annual escape to Sodwana is always fantastic, the lodge has a great restaurant, bar and onsite diving facility that is 5 star and caters to ones need for a relaxing getaway plus there is so much to visit and explore for the non diver. I would highly reccomend taking a Microlight flip over the bay as one can see the brightly colored reef  fish 10m down. Art this time of year the water was 29C and glorious.

I stayed for almost a week here for work related purposes. I could not resist the Sodwana bay beach. It’s private, beautiful, safe and clean. It is a great place for a holiday, but quiet enough to work as there are desks in the rooms.

We had a comfortable stay at Sodwana Bay Lodge.  The resort and units are comfortable and clean.  The unit with 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom is perhaps a bit small for 6 people but not a train smash. The outdoor shower was a pleasant surprise.

A seperate freezer makes this unit perfect for a fishing trip. 
Please note that there is only a gasbraai as open fires are not allowed.  We'll definitely recommend a stay at Sodwana Bay Lodge.

Our stay with Sodwana Bay lodge was pleasant. The only issues experienced was firstly with the booking: We requested a unit away from any main facilities (well in advance), as we did not want to be disturbed during our stay. Upon checking in, this was not the case, as we were then allocated a unit right next to the restaurant, which is exactly the opposite of what we requested. However, this was resolved. The other issue was that there was a problem with the DSTV being out of order. Although this was not critical to our booking, it seems like this was a known issue, but was only communicated after enquireing why the services were down. 

Otherwise, the rooms were clean and well furnished. The staff was friendly and helpful and very accomodating. We slept like babies. We would definetaly stay here again. 

It would be nice if there was more adequate diving gear drying facilities. I had my own diving gear and had no where to hang it up to dry. Sodwana being a diving meca, I would expect this to be a feature at most of the lodges in the area.

Diving holiday March 2021

My husband and I stayed for a few nights at  the Sodwana Bay lodge. I did my open water diving license with the Scuba Centre and my husband dived a few times with them. We stayed in a cabin and it was comfortable, easy accomodation. Also had dinner at the Leatherbacks restaurant which was fantastic! Will be back to dive in the future and will stay here because it is so convenient.

Very nice gated resort and buietiful property located on edge of iSamangaliso Wetland Park. 
Wildlife roam the property making it special.
Food at restaurant was very good and cheap for a Canadian.
Very friendly staff.

Looking forward to returning.

We had a fantastic stay at the self-catering cabin.
Only disappointment was the very outdated grimy bathroom and no indoor shower.
The TV reception was terrible, so every channel was snowy to watch. Very poor selection of channels.
Had to pay extra for wi-fi connectivity.

Excellent location, great facilities, the log cabins are fully furnished and comfortable. The only problem was the cleanliness of some of the rooms because of geckos, but the staff were very responsive when we notified them of the problem.
