The location was perfect, with a sea view. The rooms are big enough and the sitting room are very spacious. The place is clean and a walking distance to Ushaka Marine and the sea.
The kitchen has everything one may need.

It’s one of my favourite places for holidays. It’s simple but enough. (Okay maybe a little updating of rooms and bathrooms) 
The corner apartments, get the one with sea view
,you get best of both in this, north beach view, front and south,  don’t take the  side view apartment. 
Great with little kids, actually all ages, no fear of them Destroying fancy stuff, spacious enough for them to play inside the apartment, Ushaka very close by so you can get a pass  from Ushaka, come back to the apartment if they fall asleep or are tired, beach across the road, great walks along the promenade right up to north beach or till Moses mabida if you’re up to it,  and my best best best 💝💝💝the view of the ships coming in and out. 
There are small shops around the area, which suffice for your daily needs. 👌🏽

It has been 9 years since my previous visit to Silversands I, many improvements have been made which is good as the area is prime. Unfortunately with most areas which are prime they do attract unwanted attention. The staff were accommodating & friendly when shown respect. We arranged for covered parking in advance as we travelled by motorcycle. There was a mix up with regards to parking bays which was ultimately inconsequential. The unit we stayed in had a good view, the parking attendants of grassy patch did enjoy a good party which was most entertaining. All in all it is a well located accommodation, very central to most attractions & restaurants, with a short walk to the beach front. It is an older hotel located in Durban. Our room was equipped with the comfort of air conditioning & self catering facilities.

We stayed in Silver Sands 1 from Monday 29 April for 5 days on a timeshare week, chosen because nothing else was available in  Umhlanga or Ballito. We were well received at reception, assisted by porters for luggage purposes. The security persnnel were friendly and willing to assist with clamping your car(R35 per day..deposit of R300 for clamp and is returnable when you hand it back at end of stay) for security/ safety purposes...which is recommended in this area of Durban. Limited internal parking will cost you R120 per day.
The impression one gets is that this is an old facility needing some TLC and upgrading: curtains in kitchen were coming loose, oven door was crooked and wouldn't close properly...the Windows were loose and rattled in the windy conditions, allowing in street noise at all hours. The lifts were noisy and doors slammed shut when closing...so disturbing you whenever anyone entered or left these lifts!
The kitchen pots had burnt and dirty surfaces. When we took pictures and submitted them to reception, their maintenance man Mervyn came and attended to some of these items immediately, much appreciated.
SABC channels didn't work well, often no picture or sound! This is a low budget type facility that I wouldn't recommend unless you have no other alternative. Otherwise, staff and management were very welcoming and friendly.

Well located but in need of TLC, upgrading repair work

On arrival at reception Winnie took all credit card details manually and made them available for anyone to see.  Only when I complained was it sorted.  A deposit of R500 was taken per room and they have said that they will hold the deposit for 2 weeks.  Nice interest making scheme for the owners!  The rooms are in a bad state of repair and are very grubby.  Definitely not a place I would recommend.

Really not a great place to stay

I did stayed at Silversands 10 years ago and the place was then average but it has gone very bad. I wont recommend this place to anybody who is used to the other THC resorts. This place is very low class, the reception is bad, the security no good the place is noisy and the beds need replacement. I will take it up with THC to get this place of their list as this is not the standard we as time share people are use to.

Not the quality I am use to form The Holiday Club

We got the worst service ever at silver sands this weekend. The room had a nasty smell, windows not washed. TV was changed while we still in the room. Old appliances, The was a lady by the name of Ronell who didn't even want to take a complain from us. They didn't even want us to change the room. On top of that, we we check out we had to pay for the glasses that were not in the room in the first place. I felt like I was in hillbrow johannesburg

Room 104 the worst room ever

Got there checked in received the keys no one went and show us where the room is had to call them to assist us checking if everything is there cockroaches a nightmare even in the beds wardrobes, kitchen cupboards they were just all over luke warm water they wanted deposit for everything even for playing games and for the iron what's the use of putting an ironing board in the room whereas we have to pay for an iron had to clean the rooms ourselves bought ushaka tickets the receptionist counted how much we had to pay 2x and we paid the amount given to us but later on she claimed that she under charged us was so unprofessional she made a mistake and went on as if we robbed her
WILL NOT EVEN RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE
