Did not even check in after being shown  inside the place. Working for Dept of Labour this place has to be inspected for habitation. The owner promised a refund which I am still waiting for hi

Lovely place with enjoyable facilities - pool table, braai area, communal kitchen, wifi.  Sadly we didn't have warm water or a lockable toilet door, and the way I was treated when the card payment didn't go through when we left really spoilt it for me.  I understand they were concerned, but no person deserves that treatment. I would've loved to go back as it really is a nice place, especially given the low rates.

Gariep stop-over

We arrived at 11:30 for the check in which only takes place at 3:00 pm, even though no one in the hotel was empty because it was low season, the owner did not allow us to enter earlier. We waited in the parking lot and when it was an hour and a half to check in he canceled our reservation.

Do not respect the guests

Very basic facilities, adequate for overnight stay.   Staff friendly & welcoming.  A bedside reading  lamp would be a nice addition.

We arrived late and they waited for us untill 23.30. Parking in front of the door, clean nice place. For one night stay was perfect.

Abancidou Lodge provides excellent value for money. The Lodge, Gariep dam workers accommodation in the construction days, is well maintained and neat. Inspite of me having my dates muxed up, the personnel were very friendly and accomodating. 

Good clean value for money

The house is neat and host very friendly and helpfull.  Ideal for family stay over as it has shared bathroom.  Self catering kitchen. Pets were welcome and safe with enclosed garden area. Parking on premises.    

Nice for family stay over

The rooms were clean and tidy. The staff went out of their way to ensure we were adequately taken care of. The only issue was that the double bed mattress creaked. It was an enjoyable experience with good value for money. 

Good value for the money

I made a booking for a Guest House, but I notified on the same day of my arriving that will be arriving around 11 p.m. They told me that reception closes at 10 p.m. I made an effort and arrived at 10:07 p.m. and woman opened for me but she told me that they were close and I could not stay there because I was late, so I have to stay in another facility. I am getting some legal advice on this matter to see what I can do. 

They didn't allowme to stay because I was 7 minutes late.

The road was a bit long towards the cape, we made a stop at Abancibou. Very economical, but very brief. looks like an old hospital. Clean, without air conditioning, no ventilator. No breakfast. For a stopover night it's fine. Very nice restaurant at the Dariep dam hotel.
