Plumwood boutique hotel was situated close to all the amenities in Franschhoek. The room was spotless. The staff were excellent on always on hand to help us. We had an amazing breakfast with a fantastic choice. Lovely little touches such as a bed turndown, message on our pillow, slippers, hot and cold drinks always available and a beautiful bracelet as a parting gift. We also used the Xest Spa at the sister hotel, Chapter House. We had the gold package which was amazing. The ladies there were so professional. Thank you to everyone for a lovely stay and we will be sure to visit again.

The staffs are very helpful and courteous. The quality of breakfast is exceptional.

Gorgeous stay at the Plumwood hotel. The Superior rooms are fantastic, spacious and you definitely feel like you're on holiday. Absolutely loved the generous snacks and cake too. Staff were incredibly friendly and made us all feel so welcome. Would come back again :)

Very well managed and appointed hotel. Located in a quiet neighborhood, close to the main street where shops, and restaurants are found. Staff are pleasant and helpful. Rooms are clean and well equipped. Breakfast was full of lots of good options. Very satisfied with our stay.

A lovely secluded Boutique Guest House/Hotel transformed from several cottages in a quiet street just off from the centre of Franschhoek.
Very well appointed rooms, great personal service and food in a very tranquil setting but only 5 mins walk from Franschoek’s Main street with all it’s Restaurants, Bars, Tourist and Historical attractions, in my view the best place to stay in busy Franschhoek.

This stay was our fourth, we wouldn't choose to stay anywhere else in Franschhoek.

The property has recently been taken over by a small specialist Hotel Operator but the service, facilities and food are still to the high standards of the original owners.
The onsite Management were particularly professional sorting an issue we had on arrival but the problem was soon solved to our satisfaction.

This is a really lovely place to stay, there's parking available and a security 'fob' access to the site, although Franschhoek never seems to have any 'issues' that I would be worried about.

Large comfortable bedrooms in a lovely  setting a short walk from shops and restaurants. The are has a nice safe feel to it. The staff are very nice and helpful. They have created a nice garden and pool area to relax in. Great breakfast too.

This is the fourth time we have stayed at the Plumwood and it never disappoints.  The rooms are very comfortable and large with thoughtful touches to ensure you have everything you need.  We had a lovely balcony and access to a well appointed common room for socializing.  Breakfast is fabulous and well presented.  Centrally located so you can walk to restaurants and shops.

We had a spacious room with a comfortable bed and a generous balcony with fantastic views of the surrounding hills and the garden.  An added advantage was the airconditioner as we visited during the hot month of February.  The guest house is located on a quiet street just a few minutes walk from the main street. There is off street parking.   There was a delicious breakfast and several areas for relaxing in.   There is currently load shedding (power cuts) in SA but the management ensured that the times were displayed so that guests were aware of when the power would be off : a thoughtful touch.

Stayed at the Plumwood many times before over the last 15 years+. Now under new ownership - 6 months in and as lovely as the hotel and location ate it definitely needs a few new management tweaks. The personalised hosting, little touches and friendliness have gone. I hope that it can regain the true boutique friendly atmosphere that it was once known for.

This establishment is rated 4* by the South African Tourism Board but to me it deserves another star. From the friendly welcome to the well equipped rooms (lovely spacious shower with plenty of towels) to the best gluten free breakfast buffet ever!! Lucienne not only provided me with gluten free muesli but over our stay produced gluten free home made blueberry muffin, waffle,pancakes,bread and a cheese and corn muffin. All were delicious and she kindly shared her recipes with me. It is centrally situated so you can walk to most restaurants in the evening and enjoy local wines without having to drive!! Roel was a fountain of knowledge on the area and his recommendations were spot on. I would really recommend this establishment.

Most superb guesthouse, value for money is excellent. 
We found this place many many years ago and keep on returning. 
I made the booking via their own website and got 10% discount which was very welcome. 
The moment you walk through the gate, you know from the warmth of their welcome that you are going to have a great time.
The hosts are the most caring and special people and the staff is mostly still the same from when we first came here. Monica at reception is also lovely and professional.
Breakfast is amazing, every day different but every day great. Homebaked goodies. 
Special breakfasts for those who have dietary requirements, I didn't try it but I saw it for other guests who had a gluten allergy and it looked yummy. 
The rooms have everything you need, well thought of. The Nespresso machine in the room is a fantastic extra. 
The view from the luxury rooms is fantastic, especially when you think that you are now in the middle of the village. 
The guesthouse used to be 3 different houses which are now joined together, I guess all together it is about 1 acre.
Beautiful mature garden, lots of colours and also lots of birds in the garden. 
Roel gives very good advice of which wineries to visit, and also restaurants. 
We did have some power outages while in South Africa but was very glad that the Plumwood Inn doesn't have a noisy generator with the diesel smell. One can live without power for 2 hours. 
And we were the first ones to use the new garden shower, brilliant. 
We have already booked our next stay!



The jewel of Franschhoek

My family and I (6 adults) were lucky enough to spend a couple of nights at Plumwood Inn recently and our only regret is that we didn't get to stay longer.  The rooms (all Deluxe) were absolutely stunning; exceptionally clean and very very comfortable.  The whole place is beautifully decorated with gorgeous soft furnishings and went far beyond our expectations.  The views are wonderful and the pool area and gardens very pretty and well looked after.  Roel and Lucienne are lovely people who offer the best service anyone could want.  They were so kind and went out of their way to enable us to have an early breakfast on our last day as we needed to check out early.    The breakfast was delicious with lots of home made things on offer.  We hope to return one day and will ensure we get to spend longer in this fabulous environment!

A class act!

What an incredible spot and the most wonderful husband and wife team to welcome you!   We often enjoy impromptu weekends away and this time we decided on gorgeous Franschhoek ( AGAIN) .  After trawling through booking.com and creating a short list, we decide on Plumwood Inn and boy oh boy are we glad that we did.

From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel incredibly welcome by Roel and Lucienne. The room and bathroom were immaculate and spacious and our balcony offered gorgeous views of the swimming pool, mountain and vineyards beyond. We enjoyed a lovely cuppa on our balcony whilst enjoying this view.

The kind size bed was super comfy, the shower had great water pressure and the bath was perfect for 2. I enjoyed a lovely afternoon at the pool and then we headed out to town for some delicious dinner.  

Breakfast was included and served at Plumwood, Initially we were looking for a breakfast EXCLUSIVE option as we were planning on eating out but we are SO pleased that we got to enjoy the most delicious breakfast at Plumwood. From crepes and french toast to a hot breakfast with the most yummy bacon and eggs, bircher muesli, fresh crunchy rolls and the sweetest of fresh fruit, salmon, cold cuts, and cheeses all enjoyed with a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice and a cup of freshly brewed coffee. That must have your tastebuds going wild. I know that mine are!! 

Simply a delight !! We cannot wait to book our next stay with Roel and Lucienne. THANK YOU for making our stay so memorable !!

Home away from home

Stayed here again after a fantastic stay quite a while ago. Plumwood does have the best location in the village, the best breakfast and the best views from the rooms. 
Amazing such a big property in the middle of the village. 
Very quiet, lots of birds and squirrels in the garden.
Fantastic hosts and very friendly staff (still the same staff as our previous stay).
