I booked a week's stay for my wife and a friend who had to attend a nearby congress.
When my wife phoned to inform management that they could not take up the booking and were forfeiting the deposit she was met with most aggressive and violent verbal abuse and foul language. Altogether an unpleasant experience. Recommend that the CT Palms be avoided at all costs.

Rude and aggressive

I booked to stay here for 16 nights, this was a huge mistake as this property was nothing like the description and the photos were very misleading. On arrival I was told by the owner Brian that I had been 'upgraded' to a better room, however I had booked a room with a pool view, yet the room I was given was a room where the window (that didn't open) was 12" from a brick wall!! Turns out that the room I had booked originally was still occupied by the previous guest, and that was why I was given another room. The room was also horribly filthy, everything was old and disgusting, the furniture had seen better days, and wiring was seriously dodgy. The television was ancient and I was given a 5 second demonstration on how to work the remote!
After a week I couldn't stand it any longer and requested that I be moved. I had to email Brian, the owner, as he was not around first thing usually, and often when I came back later afternoon before heading out at night, he was sleeping in a chair in the communal lounge. I really wanted to leave the accommodation and to elsewhere but unfortunately I had paid for my entire stay upfront and Brian was neither sympathetic nor obliging and eventually after a fuss moved me to the room I apparently was meant to have in the first place. Little did I know that the 'private' bathroom was across and down the hall from my room, in fact directly opposite the communal guest lounge. Very unpleasant having strange people watching as I went into my 'private' bathroom !! Not what I would call private.
As a single lady traveler, I instantly felt very unsafe and in fact pushed a chair against the door when I went to bed as the place was full of very unsavory people who were incredibly loud and inconsiderate of other guests. Thankfully I was out every day from early on until late, and often out in the evening however, coming back in late at night was not pleasant as the lounge area was often full of people who made me fear or my own safety, and often being entertained by the owner. Very unwelcoming and unpleasant.
I booked and paid for bed and breakfast but I only ate once as nowhere when I booked did it say I had to cook my own breakfast!! I couldn't even bring myself to eat there again as everything appeared dirty and butter etc was left out in the kitchen for hours! I found the owner to be quite worrying, not your usual guest house owner, he entertained his dodgy friends in the communal guest lounge.

I would NOT recommend that anyone stays in this dreadful establishment, even though I see that the photos have been updated with different linen, don't be deceived. I wish I had checked the reviews beforehand, as there hasn't been one good review. The owner is a less than truthful and certainly not a pleasant host. Cape Town tourism board would be well advised to visit this place as it is certainly not tourist friends!!
AVOID CAPE TOWN PALMS AT ALL COSTS!!!
