We stayed at Houtkapperspoort for 12 nights over Christmas and it was a lovely, serene base from which to explore Cape Town. We appreciated the security and especially loved the baby springbok, beautiful pool and spectacular sunsets over the mountain. Highly recommended!

Heavenly views!

Houtkapperspoort is an absolute gem in Cape Town. If you are not wanting to be “on the beach” as a requirement when staying in self-catering it is the best.
Location out of the hubbub of the city, quiet and peaceful, near Table Mountain Park walks.
Our Cottage, no 19, is very well equipped and newly refurbished. 
Only criticism is that we could not, after numerous tries, contact the management. I am still waiting for replies to calls and SMS - sent on our day of arrival 10 days ago. Manager Ross simply does not reply to my calls.

Perfect Cape Venue for non-beach Goers

We highly recommend staying at this beautiful estate as it is nearby, the airport (25min), and in the middle of the best wine yards (Groot, Glenn and Beau) and also only 10 minutes from the beach (Hour Bay). 
The houses are totally beautiful and the nature is great. Also, you feel 100% secure is there is a 24 hour security guard at the entrance. 
I also must say that the administrator, Ross is the best we had!
Highly recommended also to stay with kids (playground and tennis and pool with a stunning view).
We come back again !!

Perfect Location for a lot in Cape Town

Nice 2 bed cottage but needs updating eg poor kitchen lighting, no cooker extractor, broken outdoor furniture. Well maintained grounds and friendly staff. Felt secure. Good location near Hout Bay and Constantia, good access to Kistenbosch. Occasional road noise from trucks but otherwise restful location and great sunset views

We rented 4 houses with our family for two weeks, it was really great, a small paradise, within the big paradise Constantia.
The cottages are very comfortable and Ross's personal service was excellent.

2 weeks at houtkapperspoort

Houtkapperspoort is an excellent and beautiful location. We were welcomed by four springboks and some geese which walk around the private park. Our host, Ross, was also most friendly and accomodating. The staff was friendly and the cottage was superb. We will definitely be returning.

Fantastic

Let me start by saying not to judge the whole of Houtkapperspoort by this cottage/review, we have spent may idyllic holidays in other cottages on the premises, the pool of lovely as are the grounds however Cottage 25 is a disgrace (there were issues with 26 as well, electrics/broken outdoor furniture).  I had read a previous review of #25 and tried to cancel my February booking last September. I was informed that the bad review was from a disgruntled guest who had in fact ‘damaged the property’. I asked for assurances and was told to ‘cancel then’ but at my cost. I accepted the assurances that the property was in good order.
We arrived 4 hours after check in time only to be told our name was not at the security gate.
Once we arrived at the cottage there was one towel (for two people for a 7 night booking) - we waited 3 days for more towels so had to buy our own. Pool towels were never provided.
The sofa (as per the April 2022 review) are ripped, dirty and sagging - not fit for purpose.
The broken fixtures and fittings in the bathroom (in the Apr 22 review) have been removed and put in the cupboard the metal fixtures and parts of the fittings remain in place.
There is significant mould, missing grout and sealant.
It’s almost impossible to moderate the temperature of the shower which leads to extensive water wastage 
Tonight slugs were crawling out from the gap between the wall and the bath tub
The oven is dirty, the hob rusted and stained
The kettle does not work
Half of the electricity outlets do not work - the electricity ‘trios’ if you use the iron 
There were only 2 of the 4 outdoor advertised (later two mismatched plastic chairs arrived - along with some towels on day 3)
Water bubbles up from under the bathroom tiles intermittently 

It is not a well appointed cottage as it’s next to the communal parking. Guests at #26 have to walk past #25 to get to their cottage, their front door looks directly into the bedroom.

It’s a real shame as the estate is beautiful but #25 needs extensive refurbishment, particularly the electrics.

Cottage #25 AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Cottage and location were perfect, grounds were beautiful and staff were friendly and helpful, was just ideal, house was very well equipped and comfortable.   Would go again in a heartbeat (and may well do so soon)!

Perfect holiday at Houtkapperspoort

The selfish part of me doesn’t want to write this review as we feel we’ve found a hidden gem!
 All communication with Ros was excellent and the minor issues were quickly resolved. HKP is breathtakingly pretty with superb planting and gardens. The cottages are all charming and it is a pleasure to walk around, with superb mountain views. It offers the best of both worlds being close to everything but feeling tucked away and able to get way from the hustle and bustle and retreat back to our home away from home. We stayed with friends at Yellow Wood Cottage and the only thing we could fault is the kitchen scissors not working,so perhaps a new pair is in order.  We enjoyed the wildlife, Springbok, birds, Guinea Fowl, a friendly cat and even Baboons, who needs the bush!   The pool is beautiful with sun beds and if I’m being picky cushions for the sunbeds would be good and some parasols for shade. My husband and I stayed here with another couple of very good friends which worked well even with a shared bathroom!!! We absolutely loved our ten days and will definitely return.

Pretty Perfection

What an amazing place to stay, so relaxing and peaceful. We stayed in no 20 Khoka Moyà cottage. Great position on the estate and has everything you need for a self catering break. Well situated for visits to Hout bay and chapmans peak drive. Good local restaurants and wine tasting
