COSY HAS A HOME NEXT TO THE SEA

I host my 51st BIRTHDAY DRUMMING COMEDY SHOW at AFRICAN SOUL SURFER at SURFERS CORNER, in Muizenberg on Sunday, 29th November 2020
IT WAS COSY

So cosy that my grandson decided to also perform a few of his FUN jokes and a friend of mine ALSO did.

The comedians hosting and headlining were top shelf PRO ACTS and a SEASON friend of mine was just the right TOUCH.

A disappointment is that I had planned to host a pay event at a different restaurant which never happened! However, I forgive its management since I realised the budget necessary to host such an event.

NO MATTER...IT WAS WORTH IT, INDEED.

Stanton the Muizenberg drummer was BEST.

Thank you, Chad Cupido and Thomelo for having me use YOUR FAB VENUE, last minute...I shall be back.

My 51st DRUMMING COMEDY BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION

What an unexpected gem of a place. I can imagine that as a backpacker or with a group of mates that this is the kind of place that you remember for years to come. The bar/lounge area was great. A cold beer after a long trip though was just the ticket. Everyone was friendly, and the chilled atmosphere made me feel as if I was in someone's living room rather than a hostel.
I was told that the room that I got had the best view, and they weren't lying! The room was clean and comfortable, and after a long drive I had no trouble falling asleep between the crisp sheets.
I wish I didn't have to leave so early, I was hoping to get in a surf and some Yoga. I guess that for when I go back!

Gotta Lotta Soul.

I had a lovely stay at African Soul Surfer! The food and drinks in the café are delicious and you can sit on the balcony overlooking the beach. This was especially nice for me as a solo traveller because there was always someone out there to have a chat with - and if not, it was super relaxing to just sit out there and watch the surfers. 
The staff were all lovely and I managed to improve my surfing a lot. 

Two things that could be improved:
The yoga schedule wasn’t quite clear which meant I missed two classes that took place earlier than expected. 
The dorms are a bit small which means it feels a bit cramped, especially if you’re traveling with way too much luggage like I was. 

Stayed in a private room for two nights which was lovely! 


Perfect for surfing and socializing

Wonderful, warm, welcoming staff, great surf lessons & yoga sessions in various styles. 
I stayed in a private room with amazing ocean view, waking up here was a dream! Clean & comfy rooms, and overall good energy & vibes.
Oh, and the breakfast & coffee are good here!:) 

The perfect combination of surf, yoga & chill at one of Cape Town’s best locations

Lovely old building right on the ocean, so you can walk out the door and be on the beach a minute later for your surf lesson. Staff are friendly and communal areas include a balcony and access to an airy kitchen. 

Good place to learn how to surf

It was an amazing time and the place is well kept and the people are very friendly and everyone was living like a familia . The view was beautiful . I would deffinatly go back again and recommend it to a friend and family member .

Best holiday destination close to home

Best place to stay for surfers. Very close to all restaurants, beach view is best, best prices, security (fingerprint access).
Cons. Not sure if all rooms will have sea side view, toilets are outside the room(not private)

When looking at the photos online, it seemed like the ideal place for a group of us to go. Upon entering we found that the fingerprint machines (to get into the building and up to the bedrooms) were dodgy and only allowed some of us access or sometimes not closing so anybody could gain access. Our room had mould growing on the ceiling and a sign on the broken (open) window saying to leave it alone as it would be fixed in the new week (3days). As we were staying for over a week this definitely proved an issue as the bedding was always damp. We all came home ill and covered in bites which we could’ve only got in the room (we spent our days apart and in different restaurants). There was no proper storage and the broken metal cupboards pictured were supposedly for that purpose but were practically unusable. My friend’s room consisted of bunk beds that were actually just 2 beds plonked on top of each other as if they’d ran out of space and got creative or couldn’t afford new bunk beds. 

Other than this, the kitchen, shared bathroom and pool room were acceptable. The view from the balcony is amazing as you can see onto the beach!

If we hadn’t already paid the full amount and could find somewhere else at short notice we would have left. Given an option there’s no way we would’ve stayed there!

Absolutely awful!

I stayed only one night and didn't really get into the culture of the place but I really enjoyed my time there.  It has lovely common areas, a little pub on site with a cosy fireplace, pool-table, wifi... Great views from the balcony   If I was a surfer I am sure I would be able to fill this 200-wordcount review in a shot - but alas I am not.  The staff are friendly and helpful and I really just liked the feeling/spirit of the place overall.
