Basic, but very clean and spacious rooms. Perfect location. Waterfront is at walking distance! Friendly owner who gives a lot of tips. Security in the street 24/7 for all the cars in the street. We had a good time.

It is a great place to stay if you are looking for a place that suits your wallet & taste. Everything is clean and organized here. The location is excellent- Green Point/WaterFront is in a walking distance. Mark, is really helpful. No regrets!!

'Budget, perfect location, great place'

This place has everything you could hope for if you are visiting Cape Town sightseeing. 

Located in Green Point, it's either 20 minutes walk straight down the road to the Waterfront (where the city sightseeing buses start) or 20 minutes along the road right in to the centre of town. The apartment is located a minute up a side street from the main road, so it feels very quiet and relaxing despite being a stones throw from lots of restaurants, bars supermarkets. Warning - it's up a hill -there is a great view down to Cape Town harbour. 

Mark is a fabulous host. He is so genuine and helpful without being intrusive (living above the rental apartments.) His advice made a big difference to our stay in Cape town and in fact to the rest of our trip. 

We stayed in the apartment with white bed spreads, which had a little separate sofa room with an old school TV! It was bright, clean and had a ceiling fan. The bed was very comfy. The shared bathroom (accessible through a lockable door) was also clean and modern - sharing with one or two others was not an issue at all. We stayed for a week and mid week our room/ bathroom was cleaned and (to our shame) Elizabeth even did our dirty dishes. 

Our room had a little hot plate and kettle. It was not really set up for extensive self catering, but if you want to have the option to make yourself breakfast/ lunch, the fridge and basic utensils do the job. We also used the Brai a couple of nights ( and sneakily fed mark's two lovely la teeny bit of steak - sorry!)  The other room has a mini  kitchenette, but I think  I preferred our room as it was closer to the brai and the outside patio.  There are so many dirt cheap restaurants close by that we din't self cater as much as we had anticipated. (Try El Burro down the road - packed, great atmosphere, proper Mexican and margaritas.) 

Safety wise, when we first arrived (our 3rd day in south Africa, visiting from the UK) we were a bit daunted by the security on the houses in the area, and we had a very brief wander along the main road before going back to the apartment. After a day in Cape Town, getting a proper feel of the place, we could appreciate what a great area Green Point is. There is a real mix of families and young people, and it is a suburban area. We spent a bit of time at the Waterfront and although picturesque / fun/ lots of things to do, to be honest you could be in any number of big cities and I think we would have missed out had we stayed there. Equally having gone out on Long Street / the town centre, it was great fun but staying at 21 Braemer meant we could have a jam packed day then come back and relax in the quiet. 

We were without car for the first 3 days. Walking in to town was fine (follow Mark's advice - i.e. don't be dumb & wear jewellery/ carry cameras round your neck etc.). The slightly more expensive taxis ( rikki's) were about 60 Rand to the town centre / waterfront - about £4.50, which we took after dark. Parking outside the apartment was fine, and driving to and from places was pretty easy - the main road ( somerset) connects right on to the N1 and N2 motorways and on to the road that leads you to Table Mountain and camps bay etc. 

Price wise, we were stunned. When planning our trip we didn't really look too much at prices because of the advantageousness exchange with the UK. We stayed in a complete mixture of places; from luxury accommodation to camping huts. 21 Braemer was by some distance the cheapest place we stayed in 3 weeks, booked through hostel bookers, but it certainly didn't feel like a hostel. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again or to recommend to anyone who wants to make the most of Cape Town and all the great things it has to offer.

Brilliant place for any budget.

It is a great place for self-catering. You can even cook if you want to, sit outside for meals and enjoy the sunny weather in summer.
It is only a 25-minute-walk to the waterfront, and what is best, you can park in front of the house. It is a secure place, and supermarkets are just down the road.
We enjoyed our stay there very very much, especially because of the landlord's friendly and custumer oriented nature. Mark helps you in finding around, gives you any information you need for your stay in Capetown.
