Wonderful old world charm, amazing food, exceptional and helpful service make this the ideal base for exploring the Midlands 

We had a fabulous stay! We look forward to going back. Our evening meal was tasty and the staff were friendly and accommodating. 

Beautiful weekend stay. Breakfast and dinner was delicious, great service, friendly staff. Clean rooom and comfortable bed. The only thing i would say they need to is parking space. Either marked parking or marshall to assist to maximise space and cover the parking would be great as you are exposed to rain taking luggage in and out the car. Happy customer, I will be back:-)

We simply loved the country and rustic setting. It took our minds far away from the hustle and bustle of city life. It was nothing short of refreshing and amazing

A wonderful place. The views were gorgeous and the room was one of the best I've been to. You guys were super friendly too and I really appreciated that.

My wife and I discovered this magical Inn en route from JHB to Margate in 1994. We were on our honeymoon adn had one night open. The plan was to find a sleepover en route. What a discovery!!!
We retutned 30 years later and it was still as charming and magical as before. We will make this an annual event.

Awesome stay

Excellent breakaway

Our stay was nothing short of fantastic! The property is beautiful, the staff were warm, friendly and very accommodating. The rooms were comfy, and equipped with everything we needed. The included breakfast options were great and the food delicious. We also thoroughly enjoyed the scenic 5km hike that starts on the property. Clinton and Heidi were outstanding- we felt very comfortable and at home and we will definitely be returning for another stay in the near future :) 2 thumbs up. 

Little piece of heaven

Excellent value for money. We stayed during the weekend of the Midmar Mile, so the hotel was fully booked.

The rooms are in the process of an upgrade which includes new carpeting and soft furnishings as well as inverters for load-shedding. They are comfortable and very spacious, ours had a fireplace, TV, and a huge bathroom with a heated towel rack and a big Victorian style freestanding bath as well as a veranda with lush garden views. 

The main building housing the reception, restaurant, lounges and bar has tons of character and an old world midlands charm.

Extensive book collection for reading and a beautiful wrap around balcony with great views. The gardens are very well maintained and a highlight was spending some time with the horses in two fields on the property. 

Dinner and breakfast were reasonably priced and very generous portions, great quality of food, service and ambiance. 

Joe and his team were very attentive and made for a very relaxing experience. 

Definitely recommended as part of an authentic Midlands Meander experience.

Excellent value for money

Lovely Setting with ultra-friendly service. Food was excellent. Stayed here approx 15 years ago. There is upgrading required, however. The facilities (rooms and pool) are dated. I get the "old" Halliwell country charm which is great (lounges, bar, restaurant) but upgrading is required. Grass areas require cutting and pool was on the green side. Notwithstanding, a most enjoyable experience.

Overall it was a great experience.
Just unfortunate about the ice machine being broken.
The rooms  are definitely a little bit worn out.
Hairdryer plug did not work.
But when you sit outside and admire the view , all is forgotten.
When you see how the weather changes from clear skies to thick mist. Absolutely breathtaking !!!!
We had dinner and the following morning breakfast.
Both meals were really great tasting and pleasing to the eye.
And of course final but not least , the friendliness of your staff was refreshing.

Good comfortable place to stay whilst touring the KZN midlands. Large rooms with a fireplace for chilly evenings. Good tasty diner and breakfast.
