Penzion Pod Lipo

We had a great stay here during our visit to Ljubljana. Marjan and Florijan are super helpful and kind, and the central location means it's an easy walk to the old city, train station, Tivoli park, and other attractions. The room was pretty basic (which is what we expected) but super clean and comfortable. We had a large room with a well equipped kitchenette, and also appreciated the tea room common area with the espresso machine. The hotel is on the second floor of a historic building; the bottom level houses a Bosnian restaurant. Entrance is through a sort of "secret passage" door, to which guests are given a key, and up the stairs to a second level. (There's no elevator here, BTW.) There are lots of restaurants and bars in the area which means it gets a little noisy in the evening, but things seemed to start quieting down around 10 pm or so. No breakfast is offered but we took advantage of the nearby Mercator market to get inexpensive fruit, yogurt, baked goods, and other staples. We'd definitely stay here again!
