Chata pod Magurou

Chata Pod Magurou should be listed as a restaurant too.  This review is for the restaurant as we did not stay there.  There are not many choices for food in this part of Donovaly.  In fact I think this is the only place.  It does not look impressive from outside, but inside it is warm and comfortable.  The food is excellent with large portions and good value too.  It does however close early.  The kitchen closes at 1930, so get there early.

Good food

It's basically a 1970's relic. Don't really know where to start we had an apartment that was supposed to sleep three, it could but it would be very tight; depends on your budget I guess. No wifi in the room which surely is fairly basic nowadays I wouldn't have minded paying extra. We even left a night early just too basic for us. Shame they could do so much better it's at the bottom of the piste...that's it's best attribute.

Not much more than a private room hostel

I ordered halušky, grilovaný oštěpek and some ginger tea. Everything was good, fresh and tasty. Service was fast, and very friendly! I will go there again after skiing at Nová Hola ski slopes! Looking forward...

Fresh food and fine service

Normally, I would have been staying for five days, but then things went down differently. When I arrived at the Hostel, no one was able to speak one of the many languages I speak. So, with my goodwill and creativity I dealt the registration forms. During dinner, the receptionist was always busy on her smartphone than what she was supposed to so. One day later, I wanted to order breakfast, which turned to being completely impossible because the restaurant staff - as well as the reception the day before - was not educated to servicing and ordering in any foreign language. Even, the infrastructure was problematic: you get hot water on a scheduled base, the water of the showers were either too hot either too cold, but also no lock was installed to have some privacy while showering. So on, communication - again - was not possible to address the responsible person. The rated are overpriced and you don't get value for your money. You pay €61,00 per night, including all troubles. Not worth it! You should all know about my experience. This hostel misses out professionalism, credibility, involvement and commitment.
