Truly exceptional property in the town center. Our room overlooking the fountain was spacious and well appointed with a very comfortable bed. Breakfast was very good. Staff were gracious and made us welcome. We are far from athletes but managed stairs to first floor with no trouble.

Fantastic breakfast, very good dinner at the restaurant. Fast and efficient staff. Well equipped gym with a great view of the mountains. Did use the pool but looked good. Ample parking but not central to city. Little dated rooms without an iron. But all in all great.

very nice hotel, right in the middle of town on the main square. You can hear the fountain and nice music. Very nice experience, for sure we will stay here again.

Historic building reconstructed, clean, modern with some historical finishes remaining. High ceilings. Rear courtyard was quiet  I was able to sleep with the window open. Didnt see air conditioning but a fan was already in the room. Room was spacious. Location of the hotel was very central. Decent breakfast, would return in the future.

The Arcade hotel is a lovely old building, the staff are friendly &helpful. The room we stayed in was clean,spacious and beautifully decorated with comfortable beds. It is situated in Banska town,we stayed during the christmas market and we heard minimal noise from the market. We will definatley be returning to hotel Arcade, a great place.

Great hotel right in the central square in Banska.  The staff are helpful and friendly.  Rooms are big and while they don't have aircon, rooms are equipped with fans, which can be a nicer option.  Breakfast is perfectly fine, with really good coffee.

This is a great hotel right on the town square.  

When we were there, in September, it was blissfully peaceful.  

The hotel is staffed by lovely, friendly and very helpful people.  Very efficient check in and check out.

Breakfast had a huge range and lots of it.  I have no idea why a previous reviewer was disappointed - what on earth did they want?  

A previous reviewer moaned that there was no elevator, and yes, if you were immobile that would be a problem, but the stairs are wide and gentle.  (1 guest whilst we were there had clearly had a stroke, and he manged fine).  Not steep at all.  

It was easy to find - it has a name plate on the front of the square.  15 minute walk from the railway station and 'Mesta' station is about 5 minutes if your train stops there.  

The room was large, spacious, lots of drawers and cupboards to put things away and a really comfortable bed.  Great shower.

As well as all the positives - stupidly I left something behind.  Very kindly - it is now on it's way to the UK.

Yes, I would recommend this hotel to a friend, and I'd go back.

Friendly, warm, clean, comfortable, quiet, great breakfast ...... ALL good.

Great location right on a pedestrian plaza. The rooms were immaculate and nicely furnished. Parking was under construction, but we were afforded front door parking for our motorcycles. Only difficulty was finding the parking. GPS navigation called for driving up the pedestrian plaza, vice the road behind hotel.

Fantastic Hotel. All you want clean ,comfy.

Lovely space, great location. Could have benefited from a little more attention to detail - ex staff will leave a coffee cup in the room uncleaned if there’s a spoon nearby. Maybe cultural. Also listing in accurately states there is no parking A if you ask they will let you into the gates parkade for free.

Wonderful Hotel

We visited BB after a week hiking in the High Tatras. We travelled by train from Poprad which was comfy, cheap and very scenic.
Hotel is 10 ish mins walk into town from 'BB Mestro' station we discovered later so we left BB from there after our stay. We walked to Arcade from the main BB station when we arrived, that took 25 mins partly because we were not sure where to go (no maps at the station and we do not use smart phones) locals were v helpful.
Hotel is easy to find once on the beautiful NP square it is next to the big fountain with a cafe in front. Next door to the museum and the tourist office.
Enter down the side or through the back of the hotel's own cafe which has tables on the square.
Easy check in, massive room with lots of floor space, storage & hanging space and a fridge. Tea and coffee and a kettle.
We had a huge firm really comfy bed. Good reading lights on either side - essential!
Great shower, good toiletries and towels which were replaced / changed daily. Hair dryer provided. Huge TV which we did not use! 
Room quiet and got nice morning sun. Warm enough and easy to open windows for cool fresh air. 206. There was a fan but we did not need it.
Stairs may be a challenge if you struggle with mobility or have a suitcase the size of a 4wd but they are very wide and not steep at all, with a good banister to hold on to.
Breakfast was excellent. Huge choice of the usual cereals, fruit fresh and dried, cooked stuff, cheeses and cold meats, croissants, a selection of breads, lots of teas, juices, water. Fresh coffee of whatever style you prefer. If this selection is not enough for anyone I think there must be something wrong with them!
Excellent traditional Slovak pub/restaurant right next door you can eat in the garden at lunchtime we enjoyed yummy garlic soup outside and we ate downstairs in their cellar restaurant at night highly recommended as well (separate outfit from Arcade)
All this for half the cost of a comparable hotel in the UK.

Comfy spacious room and great breakfast, ideal situation on the square

The hotel is in a beautiful historical building with high ceilings in a fantastic location in the very center of Banska Bystrica next to sights, restaurants, cafes and in walkable distance to SNP museum. It has a private parking for hotel guests which is very helpful in the city centre. The room was very nice and clean. There is no elevator though, so this should be considered if it's an issue for someone.

Historical building & fantastic location

Small UNESCO town with lovely main pedestrian square makes Banska Bystrica a good stop when travelling through central Slovakia. This hotel is simple but well run - rooms are spacious, clean, and our bathroom had been recently upgraded. No elevator - nice big staircases... Parking (free) is in the back of the hotel on smallish gravel lot. You'll need to put in "Jána Cikkera 3 Banska Bystrica" into your GPS to get to the one-way access street behind the hotel. Many decent restaurants on the square itself. Breakfast is included and is typical for the region (yogurt, cereal, deli meats, breads, juice, coffee).

Good Spot when travelling through central Slovakia

It is a nice hotel but overpriced and has no lift but very steep and long staircases. It is in the excellent location facing the main historic square in the very centre of Banska Bystrica. In our triple room the TV, attached to the wall, can only be watched sideways if you sit on the bed, therefore I gave 4 for the comfort of the room. On Friday evening there was a loud music played under hotel until very late.

Great location, but overpriced and no lift

HOTEL WAS NEXT TO THE MAIN TOWN SQUARE WHICH WAS IDEAL FOR ME.THE HOTEL OVERALL WAS AN ATTRACTIVE MIX OF OLD AND NEW.NICE BREAKFAST ROOM WITH PLENTY NATURAL LIGHT.MY ROOM WAS CLEAN, COMFORTABLE ANDSPACIOUS.TIP:IF ARRIVING IN TOWN FOR THE FIRST TIME BY TRAIN ALIGHT AT THE MAIN STATION AND TAKE A TAXI TO THE HOTEL AS YOU MIGHT FIND IT A LITTLE HARD TO FIND IF YOU'RE NEW IN TOWN.THERE AFTER IF YOU'RE TRAVELLING AROUND BY TRAIN THE HOTEL IS A SHORT WALK TO THE SMALLER MESTO STATION.I ENJOYED MY STAY HERE AND WOULD HAPPILY RETURN.
