Awful do not book. I wish I looked at the reviews first.  We booked a mobile home cabin with terrace for 4 people & on arrival i was  told we had booked a pitch for a caravan.  I was told to sleep in my car with my 3 children & apparently they called the police on me when I told my children to get their sleeping bags to sleep in the reception area.   later the manger said we could pay an extra £50 a night for an old cabin. We slept in our car at reception.  Do not waste your money

AUTHORITY, unless you are looking for late-night music and enjoy the braille.e.s that slalom between tents until 2 a.m. Even the places that are most marked away from night activities are not quiet.

No rest is possible

As previously described by other traveller (but unfortunately we hadn’t read the reviews earlier), havibg spent 4 nights here, this is absolutely the worst caming site we’ve ever been to. It seems anyone can do whaterver they wish to (eg play loud music on their private apeakers late in the night), play football next to the tents at 10pm, etc. i would highly advise anyone to think twice before checking in, especially since it says in the reception that they are not refunding money in case you decide to check out earlier than planned. No wonder. I don’t think many guests would’ve stayed longer that a single night (unless they have an incredible level of misbehaviour tolerance). Besides, they charge every single thing as if it were a fortune, trying to squeeze every dime out of their visitors. 

The worst caming site ever

The weekend is unbearable! No music until well beyond the rest time indicated by the square. Dirty and full-ass toilets after the party night. Too many tents, too close together. There seems to be no recording stop.

Not recommended for families

You pay 5€ for dog and cant take him to the beach. Clearness is poorer than poor. Food leftovers all over the ground. Toilets so dirty I would rather sh¡t in forest... Showers... Rather sowering in cold rain. I highly recomend not visit

Not as goog as expected

Liptovska mara offers a lot of various water activities. The camping itself provides everything to cover your basic needs on a campsite. We had out own tent, and the price for a night was very good.
The toilets and showers were nice and clean.
There are still a lot of things that need to be renewed but looks like it's in progress.

Very nice camping place with everything you need for a short stay

During our summer trip across Slovakia, we had to stay in the camp for two nights because one of us got sick. This sickness was probably caused by contamination, as the day before we decided to collect trash that locals keep piling all-around a beautiful lake nearby Žilina where we spent the night. Although we wore sanitary protection, the gastroenteritis assumed we should remember our deed.

However, this short summer tale is about something else than the disrespect that people in Slovakia show for local beautiful places. This tale is also about something else than all-night vomiting. This tale is about the adventures you can experience when you are sick and you decide to stay in Mara Camping, expecting to get better and continue your journey. Because in Mara Camping, there is no "sleep it off".

When you are sick, you pay for a camp, knowing that the one thing you truly need is a toilet. Oh - not so fast! Running from one toilet stand to another only to find that half of them is not functional or sanitary and the other half is locked – that is a way better evening program than sleeping it off. Moreover, even if you try to sleep after a day full of fun and vomit, you may notice that the silent time of 11 pm to 5 am is also suffering from gastroenteritis, as there are always enough brave local barbarians disrespecting this rule, while the management does not seem to care.

At this point of the tale, a hero should take over the scene. Because the camp management does not take care of nighttime silence, lets' have a hero that stands for our rights! Here comes the hero, asking the drunk people politely and repeatedly that there are families in tents all around and that they would probably also like to sleep (even if they do not come asking for silence, since they prefer to wait this out). This enrages the drunk barbarians! Thus, the barbarians intentionally sit in front of the sleeping area and make some more noise. Not only that - but the local drunk barbarians have no better things to talk about for another two hours than musing over how some FOREGINERS have the wits to come here and politely ask them – the great barbarians – for night silence. An irredeemable offense. Finally, the barbarians think aloud that the best option might be to “knife” the foreign polite offenders.

By this time, the foreign polite hero has every right to fear for their wellbeing, as is complimentary in any good tale. The hero calls the reception again and again, but no one picks the phone. Fortunately, hero’s cavalry (i.e., the local police) do pick up the phone. The camp security guard finally comes and tells the mighty barbarian group that the cavalry were called and asks them for silence. Then, the camp security guard goes off back to deep slumber. You might wonder: What would the camp security guard find out if he checked on the soon-to-be murderous barbarians a dozen minutes later? Yes! He would find that they continue shouting for another two hours – until some of the drunk barbarians convince other barbarians that they would prefer not to go to some medieval prison after knifing the foreigners.

What is the point of this true tale? The point is that Mara Camping management might soon be better skilled in collecting visitors' cold corpses in the morning rather than collecting the trash if they decide to ignore the situation that is unfolding in their camp every other night. Maybe someone else is going continue the tale ...

PS: We thank the nice girls at the reception for the full refund after we retold them this story in the morning. This was the single pleasant experience during our stay.

Short summer nightmare story

There's no silent time. There are no security guards. We couldn't sleep because there were loud parties all over the camping place all night after 23.00. Except this everything was fine. The beach and the other facilities are great.

Family holiday

We spent 3 nights in the square. The square itself is very beautiful, it is not parceled, so it is really nice to stand on. The facilities are all built over the years and, for example, the toilets are mostly not a lock, the showers are mostly not warm water, the kitchen has only warm water for a wash; the restaurant had not opened on the weekend of Pentecost (!); the lake is very shallow. The square is very suitable as a starting point. The ladies at the reception are very friendly.

A beautiful place without comfort

Do not get mistreated by the beautiful views on the beach with the Low Tatra mountains in the distance. This camping has only one purpose, to make easy money over the heads of its visitors. We were arriving on a saturday on this so called 'family friendly' camping and at first glance everything seemed to be perfect on this camping so we payed 4 nights in advance. Trying to sleep in two tents with our small family I think we had about 3 hours of sleep thanks to some drunk and awful noisy guests  who seemed to be given complete freedom to do whatever they like by the camping management for instance to put on their car stereo from 21:00 PM til 5:00 AM in the morning meanwhile shouting and singing loud around a big fire. They also have a row of wooden rental lodges next to the camping field. Also from that location came a lot of noise and even shouting of stupiditly drunk men and women during most of the night. Because the stoney beach near the lake is not restricted to camping guests, you can pay as an external visitor and get a brightly colored wristband like the campingguests are given to have access to the campingbeach for a day (We noticed several times there was no control at all on who was visiting) , there is another problem when you arrive in the afternoon to get onto the campingsite again. The parkingplace before the gateway is not prepared at alll for so many cars so it's a huge problem to get your car back on the camping again. When you look at the sanitair it is dirty, not sufficient. You see a a lot of full garabage bags that seem to have been forgotten. There are only one or two places were you can wash your dishes. This camping seems to have it all, but when you stay there for just one night, you feel like it is one big fraud. And then, with  just a couple of hours of sleep next morning you walk to the reception near the gateway and explain what happened during the night, do not expect too much any appoplogies from the camping personnel they just say "Yes, we went there three times to ask if they can be more quiet." and "But we don't know who these people were."  and you ask politely to refund the nights you payed in advance they'll point you to a paper taped on the reception desk which says: "We never refund any money" and then it is clear: This camping is not ment to make you comfortable, it is just about filling a campsite with too many people and making big bucks. My advice to anyone with children looking for a nice and friendly place to stay for holidays: SKIP THIS MARA CAMPING.
