Banska Stiavnica

This is a small family-run (husband-and-wife) Penzion located just a few minutes away from the Banská Štiavnica train station in a quiet residential area.  And that's its real benefit, to get to most of the other Banská Štiavnica hotels you'd need to haul your luggage 2-3km over streets that, in the last section, are steep and cobbled, while this is an easy walk from the station.  It's also located in a quiet residential area rather than being on the somewhat busy main street, where most of the accommodation in Banská Štiavnica proper is.  Finally, the owners are really nice, they let me have the room for an extra half day to store my luggage until the train left.

Lovely place to stay when visiting Banská Štiavnica

We were there for a couple of nights with our toddler, and were very happy that things went so smoothly. The staff was friendly and helpful; they provided us with a crib and small bath. The trampoline and swings were a big hit with the little one, and the possibility to use a grill with us, her parents. There is also a large common area with hundreds of toys and a basic kitchen on each floor. The bar is defunct (it apparently did not pay off to have it). We appreciated the breakfast they provided (though the müsli was way too sweet for my taste). This pension is in a quiet area, a bit outside of the center.

Sutiable for familes with young kids

Small but very nice structure. New rooms, very large and well furnished, with large and very comfortable beds. Nice outdoor space with heated swimming pool and covered hot tub (and sauna that we did not use). Gentle managers.

It's a great hotel.

I stayed in this pension for 4 nights in the summertime...traveled with my 5 years old son..It s situated out of the central historical part of Banská Štiavnica...You better use car to get to the centre (especially with little child), but I didn t mind...on feet it s about 20 minutes walk (I mean adult person wlking :-) ). It s quite quiet place (except barking of the dogs :-) ). Very helpful owner, simple breakfast...My little son was amazed by the possibility of using the pool, playground..Our room was clean, no tiding up during our stay...

Suitable for families

As we needed only sleep one night during our trip to "West", we regreted then we couldn't stay longer in this beautiful city and discovered all jewels hiding there. Nevertheless penzion offered us what we required (whirlpool, breakfast). Room was clean and good wifi signal as well.

Quick visit

Nice and friendly staff, cozy little wellness (infra sauna, whirlpool), outside pool. Little far from the city centre. Ask for special breakfast. Don't book on Booking, you might get a better deal. Free parking.

Nice place for families

When I was reading the comments I was expecting something different. It's a house turned into a hostel, it's a little out of the center. We arrive in the evening and are greeted by a girl who doesn't speak English. She gives us a sheet that says the receptionist is very busy and has little time available, if you need to ring the bell. The normal room, nothing like that, has mosquitoes in the windows but it has no air conditioning or ventilator, and it was hot enough. Being out of the center we were surrounded by dogs and annoying noises of the work they were doing in front, and in the present account we were obliged to leave the window open for a bit of air.

A little disappointing in terms of expectations.

It is not as good as it looks on the pictures. The environment in which it is situated is very miserable. The sauna provided is only infra so highest temperature is 60 degrees centigrade. The Jacuzzi is not the best either. The room was ok on the other hand. Probably of I had a second chance I'd pick a hotel or something closer to the Centre.
