Mahe Island

I have already been to Coté Sud twice, it is my favorite place on Mahé. It has an ideal position for those who, rather than lying on the beach in front of their hotel every day, want to discover the beauty of the beaches and nature of all of Mahé. Of course you need a car. 
Nearby are, in my opinion, some of the most beautiful beaches on Mahé: Anse Intendance (ride on big waves, bar with drinks), Anse Soleil (my favorite, coral reef on the left, restaurant right on the beach), or Petite Annse (passage through the Four Seasons resort). I also recommend a trip to Port Luanay (large coral reefs), a visit to Port Glaud waterfalls, a trek to Morne Blanc, visit to Kot Man-Ya Exotic Flower Garden, or grilling shrimp or fish on lava stones in Marias Rock Cafeteria with a visit to the Antonio (old Italian) gallery right in the restaurant.
3 fairly well equipped supermarkets by local standards are in close proximity, my favorite is Enjoy Supermarket. In Anse Royale there is a fruit market, a fish market, a fish shop and other shops or an ATM. They often sell fruit and fish right by the road both towards Anse Royale and around Anse La Mouche.
I have always stayed in Villa Aranci, a spacious villa with 2 bedrooms, 2 large bathrooms, well equipped kitchen, BBQ, large indoor and outdoor seating area, and a small pool just for the use of Aranci residents. The villa (and the other 2 remaining residences) is located in a beautiful garden with palm trees and flowers, which is looked after by a gardener (Sohel from Bangladesh), who lives right next to the building and is happy to help with anything. Next, there is the often present Gemma, who takes care of everything and lives next door, and another lady who, for example, washes the clothes for a fee. Every day they clean the building, make the bed, sometimes change the towels, great service from nice people. The owner Josée is from Italy, responds to emails almost immediately and is very helpful if you need to arrange a car rental, etc.



Great accommodation in the botanical garden.

Stayed in the 2 bedroom bungalow on the left hand side, which was a bit of a mixed bag.

The good:
- located down a steep hill and set in a very well kept tropical garden, making its location absolutely great
- everything was very clean and taken care of, with plenty of towels etc.
- Location is great, being less then 1km away from what is probably the best beach of Mahe; Anse Intendance, and plenty kf restaurants and shops nearby (rent a car, the walks are very steep)

The ‘less’ good:
- the bungalow’s interior is very dated. Both bathroom and kitchen are a bit dilapidated (yet clean)
- Kitchen appliances are due for replacement (fridge was struggling to get & keep things cold)
- No windows. Has the upside that the house feels completely open and connected to the garden, yet has the downside that everything gets very dark if you want to close things of, plus bit hard to keep bugs out (which are a part of such a lush jungle garden)

All in all a lovely stay in a beautiful place, yet it lacks some basic / standard amenities one might expect for this price.


Beautifully secluded, yet lacking modern amenities

I took my mom and sister to the Seychelles and we spent the first week here, in Coté Sud. Clean and open apartments are set in the middle of jungle. My mom couldn’t admire the beautiful garden more. Very neat and relaxing place to stay. The owners helped us a lot. They even gave us some rides and showed us the south of the island. They were very kind to us all the time. 
Even the coast is 20 minutes by walk, there is a bus stop right near the apartments so it’s easy to get around. 
The staff is very nice as well and answered any questions we asked. 
We are very thankful for the experience. We’d love to come back one day.

Beautiful!!!

We came as a family and rented the main property with the pool. We loved it here....Having read some of the other reviews I was a little nervous at first, but from the moment we arrived I was very pleased.
The gardens are lovely and perfectly tropical, the pool was perfectly refreshing after a morning / day at the beach. 
Gemma the housekeeper was very helpful and here I react to an older review, saying she 'hangs around'.....she looks after the properties and cleans them, that is why she is around. I learned a great deal about the Seychelles chatting to Gemma and so as far as we are concerned she added to a lovely Seychelles experience.
Another review mentioned 'creepy crawlies', ignore it, unless the odd lizard or gecko frightens you, or maybe a mosquito bite ruins your holiday....this is a tropical island so expect something different.
This area is a good base to explore the island from and the South is quite and more unspoilt than the north. 
Our favourite beach was Anse Soleil in the end but they all have their charms.

Very nice house in a wonderful garden, located in the South of Mahe, the most beautiful area of the island. It can accommodate a family with 2 children. The daily cleaning service makes this accommodation as comfortable as an hotel with a lot of space more and the possibility of prepare your dinner. There is also a big barbecue available.  Alternatively, the best restaurant Ihave tried in Seychelles is 10 minutes from here (Le Reduit).  Car is mandatory and can be arranged by the owner with Omega Car Rental Agency.

Very beautiful very comfortable

We had a wonderful and memorable stay at Cote Sud recently. We were warmly welcomed by Gemma, who takes care of the property and guests. She was always happy to help with any of our requests and to this day we still remember her cheerfulness and warm character. 

The garden is absolutely beautiful, peaceful, private and very tropical with lovely coloured flowers everywhere. We stayed in the pool which is nested in the garden  literally all day up till very late in the evening.  A sunset dip in the pool with the warm soft light and birds chirping is a must do! 

The villa itself was spacious, very clean (and we are fussy), full of character with lots of cosy places to sit and relax. 

Lots of storage space in wardrobes; spacious bathrooms with shower, nice tubs; kitchen also spacious with everything you need; large, outside open plan dining and common area overlooking the pool; Bbq facilities available which made it great for sunset drinks and bbq by the pool.

Tropical Hideaway

This is hidden group of 3 x accommodations down a steep hill in a tropical valley.  If you want to get away from it all  you could hide here ( if no one else were in the other houses) and not be found.  However with a car the rest of the island will be easy to visit. There seems to be a studio with an outside kitchen, a smaller bungalow and then the main house, all around a small but lovely swimming pool and beautifully kept gardens. For people without a car, get all your shopping before you come because although there are local shops its a very steep hill up to them. there is a bus service close by too. Intendance beach is a big surf beach and Takamaka beach is better for snorkelling.  You can walk down to the Banyan tree for drinks/dinner etc just take a torch for your uphill walk home. it's a 20-30 min walk .This is an old family home that has not been changed for many many years, It is NOT all mod cons, you are literally enjoying someones history. Beds and pillows are hard. Linen old. ornaments cracked but for a quiet retreat this is perfect. Teenagers will be bored( I imagine) I cannot vouch for how it would be if all the accommodation was full. we really liked it. Be aware, the photos are mainly of the big house
