Nice beach hotel situated in La Somone. The rooms (build in hut-style) are clean, spacious enough for a double bed + a single bed (with musquitonet) and have A/C. The restaurant serves excellent food, local and international. And the staff is sooo nice. Recommended!!!

Nice place to stay

we had a lovely time here, the meals were really good, full bar and great service, we enjoyed relaxing at breakfast feeling that there was no rush, actually all the meal times were like that, then we would relax by the pool or under the many shaded areas to sit and relax, great place to unwind and get away.

My stay  in hotel phoenix, was the best stay ever. I'm very sure that I will be there again. The employees were so kind the rooms were so beautiful. I was enjoying the sandwiches,  almost every night. The hotel owners were very welcome. All I want to say is I was satisfied. Thanks phoenix. See you soon.

I stayed at Le Phoenix for one night with my daughter, after driving up from Dakar (on excellent roads, it's an easy trip).
I struggle a bit with the other ratings, because if this is a 3.5 to 4 rating, I shudder to think what a lower one would imply. The hotel consists of a large common area with a bar that doubles as check-in desk, and that opens towards a small pool surrounded by deck chairs. A ways beyond the pool is the beach and the ocean. Guests stay in small bungalows dotted around the central area. The bungalows have a shower, a sink and a toilet. All very basic, but functional (and there is hot water). During our stay St. Louis had a water problem, so at times we had to ask for the water to be switched on as I think the hotel was trying to conserve.
The main thing to say is that everything is very, very basic. The bungalows are small huts really, with just one or two beds in each (my bed had a broken bottom board, and tipped me out every time I sat on it). No frills. But spotlessly clean and no mosquitoes, cockroaches, spiders or other creepy crawlies (especially impressing my daughter).
We only had breakfast at the hotel (bread, butter, Tang, Nescafe), but it is possible to have other meals there as well. 
One thing to note: there are no signs to the hotel. It is located on a sandspit called "Hydrobase" which has a bunch of other hotels on nit as well. All the other hotels have signs to follow, but Le Phoenix doesn't. That made us unsure whether we were in the right place, but just press on past the other two hotels, and you will reach Le Phoenix. Because we came to explore the town of St. Louis, and we only had one night, in retrospect we would probably have been better off staying in one of the hotels downtown; it's a bit of a drive to get to Le Phoenix. Having said that, it was nice to be in such a small place close to the ocean. Instead of car horns we heard waves breaking all night, and slept very well...

Relaxed, Remote and Rustic

Nice and friendly hotel. Love the dining area with the feets in the sand. Service nice and friendly. Simple and peacefull. Great for families looking for a nice and friendly place to stay. Beach is nice and we had it for ourselves although in the middle of Christmas vacacions
