Les Collines De Niassam

My wife and myself lived in Senegal (Dakar) in the early/late 80s and are currently paying our first return visit touring around the country visiting some new and old haunts. Our last 2 nights were spent at Les Collines De Niassam which is a collection of luxury ECO Huts (a word I use loosely) on a large, fast flowing river with an abundance of birdlife. It is owned and run by a delightful Frenchman who spent a year building the property 20 years ago. How he ever managed to find this site in the first place is beyond me but find it he did!! The ‘huts’ are varied - some in trees and ours (Lagoon 3) is together with one other on a delightful small island that is only reachable by a double planked Walkway. No problem during the day (when the tide is often as not out) but challenging at night unless you deploy the excellent Guardian’s services! Once there, the huts are spacious with a comfortable bed (together with an excellent mosquito net) and a spacious bathroom - not hot water but it is tepid once you get accustomed to it!! Breakfast, Lunch and Dinners are provided and all the meals we had were excellent with a good serving team on hand. All in all, this was a most enjoyable experience and one I would certainly recommend to others provided they did their homework in advance. Rest assured you won’t be disappointed and a warm welcome awaits!!
