Good location, good food for a good price, charming pool, next to the (quite dirty) beach, quiet location. Big problem was that the sheets were dirty. Not old and worn, but dirty and not changed/cleaned. This was true for all of our rooms. I found a killed mosquito and blood on my sheet, and when I put some water on it, it smeared, clearly showing that noone had bothered trying to clean the sheets. If you stay here, just emphasize in advance that you expect clean sheets.... and towels...

Good location, charming pool but dirty sheets

This is one of the best hotels in Joal, unfortunately that's because there's no choice. The staff are friendly enough, but the rooms aren't up to the usual standards. Again the staff are very honest and extremely trustworthy. However nobody is keen to remove the stray dogs, ask to eat on the rooftop terrace and make sure you get a good mosquito net. 

Budget quality at a high price

Friendly staff. One of the few hotels in this area, quiet (except dogs barking at night, though this is ubiquitous in the country). Very helpful manager. Simple but good cuisine. Nice small terrace with partial view of the ocean. Jaol...not much to see except the bridge--we felt the hotel was the best part! Even a small but functional swimming pool. Very reasonably priced.

Very nice, friendly

I stayed at Joal Lodge for 2 nights and really enjoyed my time there.  The bedrooms were simple but very chic and tastefully decorated.  Lovely courtyard and swimming pool. They also have a terrace.  The food was very good - had all my meals there.  

It was like staying in an oasis - calm and peaceful and friendly service - all very relaxed.

lovely place to stay

the perfect place to relax from Joal's hot and dust. Rooms are quite big and comfortable, shower is quite good and there's hot water. The seats around the swimming pool are a gorgeous place where to seat and read or just to relax; the terrace at the upper floor is really nice as well. The staff is very kind, and there are also people who speak a good english. And the position is very good, too: the island of Fadiouth is just few meters far, and the seaside is right around the corner. Only problems: restaurant is not that good, and bathrooms have tents instead of doors. But the rest is excellent, and the price is affordable.
