This place is worth every penny paid 

It’s well located in the centre
There’s a charming courtyard filled with lots of flowers, greenery and birds chirping 

They have a pool which I didn’t use was too busy soaking in the nice outdoors 

The place is well decorated with lots of arts and sculptures 

Room is clean, spacious with tv, sofa and view to the streets Which was nice 

The breakfast consist of fresh breads, eggs, yoghurts, fruit juice and coffee/tea.

Service is friendly and efficient 

I would come back for another nice quiet relaxing weekend for sure 

Quaint, quiet, nice weekend get away 

We really enjoyed our stay at Villa Castel. The staff are so kind and service minded, especially Mariam the manager who always has a smile on her face and does her best to answer all the questions you may have. The rooms are clean and comes with mosquito nets. We also had a small terrace but we never used it as there is so much space in the garden/pool area and we had the pool to ourselves most of the time. Gorée island is very small and the hotel is centrally located which means everything is close by. Mariam can also help you booking a taxi for the airport or Saly or wherever you'd like to go. Don't forget to try the café Touba in the small shop near the harbour. It is 50 Francs (10 cents) and has a unique taste.

A great place with the nicest staff

We had a lovely stay in Villa Castel, with excellent attentive and unobtrusive service from the two ladies working there. We loved our room decor and watercolours, as well as the swimming pool and gardens. Although the restaurant was closed that evening, the staff put together a tasty dinner for us, and next morning when they heard that we haven’t tasted any Senegalese fruit juices, they give us samples of all the ones that they had!
Definitely a lovely place to stay in Goree.

Charming place

If you want to visit this island, you actually should stay there for a night. A relaxed atmosphere when most tourists have left the island again. We only met friendly and helpful people. In the hotel we had a nice large room, a large bathroom and a small patio. During the day you hear the noises in the straat. In the evening some local music. For the reast very quiet. Many restaurants close after most tourists have left the island. Only near the harbour 2 restaurants were open during evening time (Chez Thio and Tonton).
Beware not to use the local water; not even for tooth brusing to prevent risks of diarrhoea.

A perfect place to stay on this island

My husband and I loved our one night stay at Villa Castel. After our short walk from the boat dock, we were so happy to open up the gate and find this beautiful idyll. The verdant courtyard, full of plants, art, & birds, was such a lovely place to relax and enjoy our breakfast. Our room was huge and comfortable. The staff was incredible, with the manager handling a particular situation for me with such grace. It was well located on the small island and easy to navigate from there for strolls in any direction. We loved it here and recommended it throughout the rest of our trip.

Such a Beautiful Respite

Dakar is overwhelming, so the hotel and island are a perfect, weekend getaway!   The staff/owner were particularly helpful and nice!   My room was beautifully decorated and spacious!   TV reception was inconsistent.  AC was great!  Two hundred yards from everything!

The best get away from Dakar!

Goree is the perfect place to begin, end or relax in the middle of any trip to Senegal, especially if you are looking for respite from mania in Dakar. And there couldn't be a better place to stay than Villa Castel. The courtyard alone is worth the price and there are balconies where you can sit and listen to the goats bleeting outside the walls or stare at the stars. The rooms have everything you need and are very comfortable and well appointed. Most notable though is something that is not rankable on a travel website and that is the palpable calm of the island. It's a great place to unwind and, again, no better sanctuary than Villa Castel. Note: the tasting menu of local juices at breakfast was particularly exciting to us newcomers. The staff was friendly and accommodating and care about your experience. Short walk to both swimming spots on the island (and everywhere else on the island for that matter.) Would go back in a heartbeat to sit under the bougainvilleas and sip ginger juice.

Beautiful and calm

Beautiful Island, beautiful people, friendly staff in a romantic small hotel. Everything was very clean, the bill can be paid electronic, staff speaks local languages, French, English and Dutch, Breakfast was super and abundant. 

WiFi is a bit weak in some rooms but advise is to buy a local sim card. 
Do not worry about the generators on the nearby square, they do not bother during your stay.
