I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Aniva's Place. I'm here on business and am so comfortable that I haven't even bothered to look for a rental. The business owner, Aniva, gives discounted rates for extended stays. I don't see myself leaving until my business here is done. (I've been here for over a month.) Aniva runs a tight ship. Breakfast is always lovely and the kitchen is kept very clean. There are sitting areas scattered about (4 inside the house, by my count) so even if this place were packed, you could still have your own space and conversations with friends. The staff is super helpful. I rarely lock my room unless strangers check in; and often leave my door open here. It's a home. It doesn't feel like a commercial business. Oh! Aniva knows just about everyone on this island, so if you need advice or a contact, she's an excellent resource and an all around great person. 

Folks from all walks of life are treated with respect here. It's a safe place.

A hidden gem not too far off the beaten path.

I booked this on my last night in Samoa before returning home. Fantastic budget option very very clean. Extremely friendly and welcoming. I would definitely stay here again if needing a place in Apia.
The pool was also lovely on a very hot afternoon.

My stay at Aniva’s place was so wonderful, I felt so safe and taken care of, the room was nice, clean, and big, Aniva as well as her staff are so friendly and helpful, I would highly recommend staying at Aniva’s, the banana pancakes for breakfast are the best!

Best bed and breakfast!

I have stayed here many times and it is the perfect location for Medical students. 
Only a 3 minute walk to the hospital and 5 minutes to the local supermarket.
It is by far the cleanest accomodation you will find on the island... I have stayed other places and it does not compare. 
On top of that host Aniva, a local Samoan, is very understanding and empathetic towards medical students. She goes above and beyond to help you with whatever you need outside of your elective. 
Stay here , you won’t regret it! 
Just make sure to tell Aniva you are a Medical student. 

Medical Students look no further 

Aniva is a great host and the ladies that help her are lovely. The breakfast is very nice, the rooms clean and it's nice and close to Apia. The beds were a little hard for my taste but not terribly so, the shower is great and the pool is a delight in the heat, even though it's over-chlorinated.Definitely pay the extra for A/C (it's a must for sleeping in the heat) and I would recommend paying in advance at the quoted price as there is a small discrepancy in the exchange rate if paying when you arrive.Overall a great B&B style accommodation that gives a true Samoan flavour experience :)

We had a wonderful stay during our holiday in Samoa. Many thanks to Anniva for her kindness. She called & interviewed an English speaking local taxi driver for our personal round island guided tour. Few restaurants across the road with taxi to the town centre only cost 5 Tala. We enjoyed our stay with a comfy bed, beautiful breakfasts, nice pool to cool off from a hot day. I stayed at Anita's Place for 3 nights in early August. Everything was taken care of making it a really nice relaxing time. I got great advice on restaurants, places to visit, things to see, good shops to buy a lava lava, and more. Thanks to Aniva and Duncan for making my stay so easy and enjoyable.

Fantastic hospitality

From the moment we met Aniva, we knew that we were in good hands. Warm, friendly, hospitable, and knowledgeable about Samoa and the world in general, she provides wonderful advice. And she isn’t afraid to tell it like it is! 

The B&B is located on a quiet street near the hospital. Although it’s a little way out of town, taxis are abundant and inexpensive (5 tala, or about US$2.00, to or from central Apia); there’s a stand across the street. The Museum of Samoa and a few restaurants are within easy walking distance.

The place has a swimming pool and a cozy lounge with a television. Our room had a private bath, two beds (queen and single), and air conditioning. Everything was clean and comfortable. Breakfast — plentiful and included in the price — is served at a large table in the kitchen, encouraging interaction among the guests. During our eight days at Aniva’s, the meal differed a bit from morning to morning but always featured banana pancakes and tropical fruits. One day, we got to try coconut milk/tapioca/banana “porridge”; another, the local version of doughnuts. Internet access costs extra, but we used a mobile phone (with a Blue Sky SIM card) as a hotspot.

Some reviewers have mentioned being awakened by roosters early in the morning. The critters are definitely around and vocal, as they are on many Pacific islands, but earplugs solve the problem. I’d also suggest bringing a flashlight if you intend to be walking after dusk; the roads are very dark!

A Warm and Welcoming Place

My partner and I spent 3 nights at Aniva's Place in April and we had the best time there. It's an excellent place to start and finish your time in Samoa. The accommodation is extremely clean, the two house girls work very hard to ensure this! It is also very comfortable and relaxing, it has a real homely feel. The pool is also great for a dip.

The highlight for us was meeting the wonderful Aniva. She was one of nicest people we met on our whole trip. It was great to spend time with her, share stories and learn more about Samoa. The cherry on the cake was that she is an excellent cook. Breakfasts were delicious and Dinner (which costs extra) was also fantastic. We had an amazing time at Aniva's and would thoroughly recommend her Place to anyone looking for a base in Apia. Aniva can also offer advice for Rental Cars and Airport Transfers which we found really helpful.
