The house was built on the site of an old Finnish farmstead, where generations of the Pitkanen family once lived on the lands of Burgomaster Berg. It is situated on a rocky hill beside the forest. Nearby attractions include Paaso Mountain, the Ruskeala waterfalls, and the Mountain Park. The town of Sortavala is easily accessible by transport.
